How hot do you like it?

The air temperature in your house, that is. We're having "fights" with our A/C system in the house. We want it between 72 and 74 most of the time. It wants to be between 76 and 80 most of the time. The A/C company thinks there's nothing wrong with a house being 75-80 all the time, but for me that's too hot to do any work in.

Where do you keep your thermostat?

We keep ours at 80 most of the time. Anything below 76 and I am shivering - literally. It took my dh a long time to get used to it, but he finally has and now can't stand it any cooler than 78.

80 with the air conditioning, 65 with the heater. :)

77 with the air...
74 with the heat...:)

Well, we don't have central AC, but when we did, in the summer we kept in on 68-72, we would rather be cold than hot. In the winter with the heat we usually kept it on 70. Here in Italy we have yet to use our heat, now I have to learn how to convert F to C.

Thanks Ricola, I will have to remember that.

I do know that I will not be keeping my house here as warm as I did in the states, it is a lot harder and a lot more expensive. We will be living in layers and I will probably close off two of our four levels to keep the warmth in the main levels.

I like my house cool. Not cold, just cool. We have one of those computerized thermostats and it cools it down and night and warms it a touch for the day.

When I'm sitting on the computer I normally have to wear warm clothes or a blanket because of the the vents is right at my feet.
It's funny the temps being 80's and 90's and I'm sitting here with a blanket. LOL

I love it hot.. almost tropic.

We did not even put on the window units unless the outside tempature was OVER 90-95 degrees.

The heat/AC haven't been on for over a month. We keep windows open and maybe a fan downstairs..

Really, for heat we turn that down as well, and just layer around the house. I think the low is 55 and the high is 62. (Its computerized so I dont rightfully remember)

Well our gas/electric bill is vERy VERY low, so thats fine with us.

During the summer time we have it set to about 75 or so when we are home (we have it set to turn off when we are not). At night though we both need it cool to sleep so we have it turned down to 72 for the night. In the winter we have it set to about 70 when we are home and about 68 or 69 at night.

My dd's ac has a time regulator, but the other ac's don't. If I could set it where I wanted it, I'd put it on 68. My SO would put it on either 64 or 72.

about 67 in the Winter and about 72-74 in the summer.

I wish it got hot enough over here for AC :(

I'd like it around 70 or 72, but I'm not paying the electricity for that! I keep it around 76. If I ask DS if it's hot in here and he says yes, I set it on 75. It helps to have the tile floor and NO carpeting. My feet usually freeze. When I leave the house I set it on 77 since I don't want it to get to 78 or above...too hot.

As cold as it can be. Crank up the A/C in the summer. Open the windows in the winter. Run the fans all the time. A/C bills are offset by low heating bills. Thank you.
