How helpful is Early Entry if I get G+?

Hello everyone,

I'm currently booked at a Disney Springs hotel which will get me the early entry privileges. That said, I see a place I prefer at a better price with no Early Entry privileges. I'm always a bit unsure about Early Entry, just because it means trying to wrangle my family up in time to make it worthwhile.

I know this is all speculative, but I'm trying to figure out whether G+ can sort of take away the bite of not showing up at Early Entry.

The choices are:

1. Early Entry AND G+
2. Early Entry only.
3. G+ only.

Obviously, #1 is best - but how would you guess that #2 and #3 will compare?

If the price difference on the resort will cover you for everyone in your party to get G+ then I would I would be okay with that option. Then, you get up when you want to. It's more flexible then early entry only.

Some attractions will not be included in Genie+. They will be an additional charge to skip the line or you will be able to wait in a standby line or virtual queue. Being in the park 30 minutes before other guests for the early entry period will put you ahead in a standby line at those attractions. You might even be able to finish an attraction and be waiting in line at a second attraction before official park opening.

So yes, there is still an advantage to early admission even with Genie+.

For the very popular attractions that have standby lines, early entry could be very helpful.
You may be able to ride 1-2 popular rides before everyone else enters the parks. By then the lines to popular rides could be quite long.
In the past with 1 hour early entry, FoP had a short wait for the first 15-20 minutes. By the time everyone could enter, the line was 60-90 minutes.

It's not even worth speculating now as no one has any idea whatsoever until we see how Genie+ actually works. 30 minutes early in the park will give you 1-2 rides with minimal wait. That we pretty much know. As for what it will be like when parks open to all . . . it's wild guesses based on nearly nothing at this point as we have evidence we can pick and choose from which lead to wildly different guesses. My guess is the most popular rides are likely to have all reservations gone by late morning for the day (like it used to be for paper FP which also went in time sequence) and some rides will have more availability.

I think it’s really going to depend on a lot of factors. For one, is your family ok with lines, or are you only going to do rides that are basically walk on and lightening pass? Because AK and Epcot, have few enough rides that you can ride everything in one day without lightening lane if the animals trails or World Showcase isn’t a big focus. Hollywood Studios doesn’t have many attractions, but what they do have commands long lines. It probably has the least amount of walk on attractions. And Magic Kingdom has 2-3 times the attractions of all the other parks, so in order to ride everything in a day, you probably do need to utilize some lightening lanes. Obviously, it could all change when it rolls out and we see how it works, but right now, my family is planning on only using G+ at Hollywood Studios and Magic Kingdom since it appears to be pay by the day instead of for the full length of the ticket. My family also prefers to sleep in and we almost always stay until close, so we do the big headliners at the end of the day when lines are shorter and you get to ride if you are in line at close. We’ve been back twice post covid shutdowns and we’ve roped dropped those trips because of the overall shortened hours, but I really only felt like we got a definite advantage doing that at Hollywood Studios.

Early entry will help you get in line for the headliners that aren't available with Genie+ (unless they have a virtual queue, or you don't want to ride them)

And with the 30 minute Early Entry available at ALL 4 Parks instead of just 1 Park for the 1 hour Extra Magic Hour, the crowds will be spread out between the 4 Parks and so the lines at the Headliners should even be much better for those 30 minutes.

I think it will still be important to be close to the front of the Early Entry line at open.

Will Lightning Lane and IA$ "open" as soon as the Park opens for regular Guests?

This is a great question.. without knowing the exact details of G+, it is difficult to really know the benefit of it . It will be interesting to see what happens after it rolls out

I think the comparison is more between early entry and IA$$$. This is my logic. You should be able to get one IA$$$ done during early entry with standby. So, say that ride costs $10 in IA$$$ and there are four of you, then it would make financial sense to go to a non-early-park non-early entry hotel if it cost more than $40 less.

Honestly for us we will be doing park opening every day and be back to the resort or to Disney Springs by noon likely every day. We go for a week though and every day the "goal" is to get 2 of the top rides done and then do smaller rides or shows until we leave.

Its a fairly significant advantage if you actually are going to use it and get there before the park will be open to actually rope drop. What you don't want to do though is show up right at or just after the early opening started because then you are behind everyone going to the big rides.

Take the afternoon to relax having hit the park early is the way we go about it moving forward.

I think it will depend on the park.

MK- G+
HS- Either
AK and EP- early entry

Also, your party patterns. I will do Early Entry every day cause my kids wake up early. But we will get G+ on one MK, HS and AK (cause my kids love animals like crazy). Epcot and second MK we won't get G+

Of course I am not going till next year so data could change that l.
