How have you made a standard room work? 2 yr old and snorer?

We have this issue. It’s my children and me and I’m the snorer. Well truthfully we all snore, but my dd (now 11) says I keep her awake. My son (age 4) can and has always been able to sleep right next to me no problem. It’s only an issue when we go to Disney because everywhere else we go I get a suite. Even if there is no door, the space between where she sleeps and where I sleep is enough.

Like others have said, sometimes you’re so tired, you don’t hear each other. And as Maxiesmom stated, it is no fun for the snorer. My daughter can sleep fine as long as she goes to sleep before me. Trouble is only when she tries to stay up and watch TV and I’m dog tired, which as others have stated likely makes the snoring worse. Then she wakes me up literally crying she can’t sleep. Sometimes I have to remind her to go to sleep as I’m literally about to pass out.

I’m debating this for our next trip. Going to try August for various reasons and I have found August has rates lower than any other time we have gone. Also with the military discount I’m thinking I could splurge and get the cheapest rooms at either the Contemporary or even the Poly, both places I never expected we would ever stay. With the heat of August I’d love to be on the monorail and have that ease of going back and forth because out of 8 days, we do at least 3 days at MK and if you add in 1 day at Epcot that is half our trip. However, because of this issue I’m also thinking we could do the family suite at All-Star Music or Art of Animation and be separated at bedtime. We’ve always stayed at Values anyway. Only 1 BR I think I could swing would be at Wilderness Lodge. Like you not interested in OKW or S Springs.

I see you said the 1Br villas are booked. Since your children are quite young, have you looked into a family suite at Art of Animation? I know a far cry from the GF, but not only separate sleeping space but 2 bathrooms. I hope things work out whatever you decide.

You can always put some soft music on headphones and sleep like that, or with some foam earplugs.

So what's comfortable? There are sleep gadget headphones, Bose type noise cancelling phones, "bedphones" -- those look interesting.

And does anyone know if Snoreraser works??!! Masking snoring makes sense but is this a hoax?

BTW, you guys are terrific. Thanks for all the good ideas.

You really need to find something that works for you. One time we shared a room with FIL and MIL at the Beach Club (it was just supposed to be for 2 nights), FIL is an awful snorer, really loud. DH was traveling separately and his flight was delayed so he didn't get in until after midnight. By that time FIL was sound asleep and snoring up a storm. DH and I couldn't sleep at all, not a wink. We gave up on the room around 2 or 3 am and wandered the boardwalk and tried to sleep on the couches in the lobby. CRO was closed between 12 and 7 am so we couldn't get a room until they opened at 7. We were at the front desk at 7 on the dot begging for a room that was ready so we could finally get some sleep.

I will not be sharing a room with DD (14 month) and DH again unless it's an emergency or a 1 night trip.

I could NOT sleep well on our last trip. We had a 3 bed townhome but DD was in our room because we were traveling with family. I slept in DD's nursery on a twin bed until she was 6 months old, but after 6 months not doing that, I was not used to sleeping in the same room as her. I kept hearing every little movement or breath from her and I could not sleep. (It's a mother thing...DH was out like a light...) On top of that, DH's snoring actually did wake up DD a few times. So between dreading his snores, and listening to DD, it was so hard for me to fall asleep.

We switched to a 1 bedroom suite for our last 3 days and put DD's pack n play in the living room. I slept SO good at that hotel!

This is yet another reason why I couldn't do a standard Disney room...

Garden Grocer will deliver a box fan for $19.99 plus delivery. Put that baby on high and it will drown out the snoring.

I tagged along with my sister,BILl and nephew this past weekend. Since we drove, I brought my trusty fan that I always sleep with. Good thing as my sister was getting a cold and snored like a buzz saw but the fan on high drowned it out and we all slept like babies in one room at the Disneyland Hotel.

6yo was exhausted and fell asleep early. We all stayed up no problem. Kid slept like a rock.

To avoid the noise in others in the room..... three pillows, one to both sides of the head and third on top (allowing space to breathe). Noise just travels around me.

How has your sleep been? Is your snoring early signs of sleep apnea and you might need a CPAP machine (which can be noisy too).

I was wondering the same thing as you. I was considering the Polynesian b/c it was where we got married and because it would be easy being on the monorail.. however we'd all have to share one room, a one year old, a four year old, me, and my DH who SNORES loud! I sleep with the highest rated earplugs and they are not enough. We did the little mermaid room and his snoring woke me up most nights. Then DD2 had to sleep in her pack n play (with a nice mattress) and woke up every night at 3am and crawled in bed with me til early morning. I did not sleep well. Well atleast there was not the normal hotel noise of an air conditioner kicking on and off. The AoA one was not a problem. So for our next trip i think we will stay at the AoA suites so that i can have DH separated from us and hopefully we can sleep better. I thought about bringing our sound machine but it takes up too much space in our luggage.

My husband is a huge snorer! When we went we had our 8 month old who slept in the pack n play and my 7 yr old. The 7 yr old took turns either sleeping in the same bed as daddy or sleeping with mommy lol...we stayed at the contemporary in the tower with a theme park view. My whole family are go to bed early and get up early people and what was worse than my hubbies snoring was the fireworks lol it was cool like the first 2 nights but after that it got old lol. Anyways I'm sure u will be fine with the sleeping arrangements if it gets too bad buy some ear plugs lol

DH is a snorer also. I tend to wear earplugs but with little ones in the room I would download a "white noise app" onto my smartphone. Plug it into the charger and let it play all night.

Do I know this well. We travel a lot. Kiddo has probably been on 30 airplanes in her 3.5 years.

Two beds in a room. DH sounds like a motorcycle which is why I cosleep at home with kiddo. Plus, he gets up about five times to use the bathroom and has sleep apnea so suddenly he will stop breathing which totally stresses me out.

So he gets the bed nearest the window. DD sleeps with me in the other bed. She's closest to the wall with suitcases on the side between wall and bed to keep her from tumbling out of bed.

I use a sleep app (ambience and I like the sleep machine sound) on our iphones and/or ipads. At least two spread around the room and keep them plugged in while charging overnight.

And if that doesn't work even after walking 15+ miles a day at Disney, I bring ambien. I need my sleep and am a raging insomniac. I take the smallest dose to KO me. :)

That said, we're at GF this trip and my Mom is coming with us and will not stay alone. So Mom is going in his DH's, he's volunteered for the day bed (he can sleep anywhere and if we need to buy an eggcrate mattress we will).

The reason I can't put my Mom with kiddo is she sleeps like a kung-fu fighter in the championships. She kicks, she twirls, she tumbles and she talks and laughs in her sleep. I'm used to it, but she would bruise the heck out of my mom.

Good luck to you! Love ambience.
