How Have I Missed Shiki-Sai? Thoughts?

Hi Disfriends!

DH and I are Disney veterans, so I'm sort of blown away that I wasn't aware that Shiki-Sai exists? We've never eaten at any of the restaurants in the Japan pavilion. We are traveling with our 20 something kids in March, and I have Teppan Edo booked for the four of us, because I think my fellas would enjoy that. However, DH and I will be going back for the Food and Wine Festival in the fall, and I'm thinking the Shiki-Sai menu looks great. DH is a big fan of sushi. I'm not a huge fan of sushi, but the menu looks fabulous with lots of non-sushi options. The WDW site make reference to great views of Epcot.

So, can anyone give me feedback about this restaurant? It looks great, and like it should be on our list for the fall? Just thought I would check with experts here for some info.

TIA!

Definitely try it. I'm not a sushi person but I like Shiki-Sai since it offers so much more than just sushi! There is an udon duck dish that I quite enjoy. Its much quieter ambiance than Teppan Edo, excellent for a couple.

Shiki Sai is FABULOUS. Highly recommend! I’ve never had anything bad there, sushi or not. I always try to get there once while at WDW!

IMHO, it's the biggest TS gem in EP. We love Shiki-Sai! Yes, great menu, great food, tons of options and amazing views. So much more than sushi.

If I were you, I would switch your Teppan Edo ressie to Shiki Sai, too! I find Teppan Edo to be so crowded - the "show" is lackluster and truncated and the food is quite greasy, IMHO.

OMIGOSH! You all are fabulous! Thank you so much for your feedback! Now I'm really excited to try this new-to-us restaurant!!

And @Marthasor I'll see if my fellas are willing to switch from Teppan Edo to Shiki Sai. Shiki Sai is DEFINITELY now on the "must do" list for our fall trip with friends. But, as for our March trip, one of our DSs is a pretty picky eater and the "show" at Teppan Edo is the draw for him to try something new.

One of my favorite menu items was removed so I enjoy it slightly less but I do agree that Shiki Sai is one of the better table service restaurants in Epcot. I especially love how it's not super loud compared to Teppan Edo.

There are a dozen or so dishes you could get if you don't eat fish because you don't like it. If you don't eat fish because of an allergy, be a little more careful as many Asian dishes even when using chicken, beef, or vegetable, incorporate fish sauce or oil in the sauces - mention the allergy to the servers and they can accommodate by leaving out any such sauces and using a separate grill.

It has a large menu and is generally pretty good. The prices are kind of high for Japanese food, but not outrageous.
