How has waitlist generally panned out for you?

Ugh, I feel nervous and not so well. Last night my family and I finally sat down and put our plans in concrete of when we wanted to go and where we wanted to stay. I emailed MS this morning with my request. I couldn't stand the wait any longer so I called MS, which is what I should've done in the first place and they said, sorry nothing available for what and when you want. I told MS about how I had emailed in this morning and she said well, they may have made the ressie for you and just not got back to you yet. I asked her if I should wait and see what pans out or get onto the wait list. She said wait and see what the reply to my request is.

If I do waitlist, how has waitlist panned out for you in the past?

I'm not sure how far out you are planning your trip, but
I had a good experience last October with my trip. I usually
call 11 months out but we were going to skip the trip last
year. Of course when it got closer we decided we couldn't
wait two years to go to Disney (infant with us or not!!) so I
called at around 8 months and they said there was no
availability at BWV for what I wanted and put me on the waitlist.
When the 7-month window opened up for other people to
get into resorts that are not there "home" resort, they must
have switched a lot of ressies around because the boardwalk
opened up right then. The Beach Club was new and I think a
lot of people were moving from BWV to BCV. Anyway, I got my
wait list and was happy. Good luck to you!!

Hi MicheleC,
Thanks for the response. I'm at 6 months. Trying to get BWV. My second choice is OKW but was really looking forward to BW. We're taking my BIL, who has never been to Disney, and we just thought that he'd get "the full effect" at BW. Close proximity to things and such. My sister is really haveing to twist his arm!!! Last night she even threatened, "Fine you take a week of vacation where you want and I'll take my week in Disney!!!"

He just doesn't have the fever yet but we are convinced that once he gets there, he'll love it as much as us. You know how those people who have never been before are.

I have been very successful with waitlisting. A couple of things that are harder to get - grand villas and standard view boardwalk, though they have come up on waitlist.

I am confused why they couldn't tell you about your ressie, it is either in the computer or not, if not you should go on the waitlist right away.

The waitlist also has a 30 day out and a 7 day out. I have had things become available between the 7-30 day period after I had come to grips with my paying cash for one night in the middle.

Two other suggestions, if you get all but a night or 2, ask MS to check with the resort directly to see if they can "open up a room". I have been told nothing avail. than they make the call and I get a room. The other thing is if you decide to make a cash ressie for the missing nights, do it with MS not CRO. This way, they can put you on the waitlist with an auto cancel of the cash ressie. This also allows an easier link of your reservations so you don't have to move.

Good luck
Sandy

Did they tell you that nothing is available? If you can get something at OKW take it, then waitlist any place else that you want. That way at least you would know you were going and would have a room.

If nothing is available, it might be tough to waitlist a whole trip when you are already within the 7 month window.

I am new to all of this and this is the first ressie I've tried to make. The girl wasn't very helpful. At first she wasn't going to talk to me but upon checking she did see that she was authorized to speak with me. -My husband is the one on the deed.- Anyway, she said she didn't see anything yet but that the email department may have something (?) Like I said, I've never made a res. before. I'm trying to get a 2 bedroom at BWV. How does the 30 day and 7 day window work? Also, can you get a concrete ressie at OKW and still waitlist at BWV?

I just sent you a PM

Also, yes you can make a reservation and as many waitlist requests as you want. (Boardwalk - standard and preferred and BC & VWL) you could have all 4 other options waitlisted and see what you end up with

Good luck
Sandy

I have had good luck with waitlist.
1 Bedroom OKW Christmas Week
1 bedroom VB Presidents Week..

Make sure to call and follow up every week or two.

We have waitlisted 4 times. and every time have had our request met. We have been very pleased with the process. Good luck!

FTLOD--

Depends on the dates you're trying to get, too. I was waitlisted for New Year's Eve at BWV last year for more than six months and never cleared. Had the two days prior and two days after, but not NYE. Did get NYE at OKW.

OK,
This is how things are so far, after MUCH help from InstImpres, We are waitlisted day by day for BWV, BC, WL and OKW for week of Nov. 30 - Dec. 6. As of now I am confirmed for 11/30, 12/1, 12/2, 12/5, 12/6 at OKW. Nothing yet for 12/3 and 12/4. Our first choice is BW and OKW is our last choice but only because I'm taking family who has never been to Disney and I wanted them to be in the middle of the action at BW. I'm hoping that with this much time, something will open up at BW. Even if it doesn't I'll be happy with OKW.
You can pass any comments along if you have any advice to give.

Thanks,
April

I've been successful with the waitlist 3 times.

OKW asked 6 weeks in advance; filled at 30 days
VWL asked for one extra day at 11 months; filled within a few days
BWV asked 8 weeks in advance; filled at 30 days

I agree with advice to book at OKW and get on waitlist for BWV entire stay. I don't know how MS manages all these requests, preferences, changes and cancellations.
Good luck!

She may have been new. As a rule member service reps are very helpful and friendly. If you get one that isn't just try again and hopefully you'll have better luck.
Have a great trip!:bounce:

I have waitlisted a couple of different times and have been successful both times.

I have had 2 successful attempts with waitlisting. I hope it works out for you.

We were waitlisted for a studio in January 2003 at the BCV and it came through about 2 weeks before we were set to go. We were waitlisted for a 2BR at the BCV in October 2002, and it didn't come through, so we shared a 1BR with another couple, which wasn't terrible, but we were just thinking they'd have liked a little more privacy.

We are currently waitlisted for a 2BR at BWV in November, but haven't heard anything yet. I do have OKW booked for the November trip, so if BWV doesn't come through, we'll be at OKW. I personally love OKW, but we will be there for the Epcot Food and Wine Festival with my DBIL and DSIL, so I thought it would be nice to be closer to Epcot to be able to go in and out at will.

With regard to oyur 2 days in the middle there with no reservation, did you ask about paying cash for those 2 nights?

Great news,
OKW has come through completely. No missing days. We also are still waitlisted for BWV and again if it doesn't come through, we have OKW.

we will be there . . . with my DBIL and DSIL, so I thought it would be nice to be closer to Epcot to be able to go in and out at will.

We also will be there with my sister and BIL and share the same feeling. The closeness to Epcot and MGM would be great as well as all the excitement happening at Boardwalk, being able to go in and out. . . but I'm just happy I have one full reservation. Now at least we can make plane reservations and such.

Thanks everyone for your replies and I'll tell you, the positive feedback for waitlisting coming through is terrific.

By the way, some of you who have had waitlists come through the last two weeks, did it make you nervous?

We never booked at the 11 month window only because there were circumstances in which we could not plan that far in advance. However, we have had good success getting into our home resort ( BWV) less than six months. We had to be wait listed for a few days and they always came through within 3 to 4 weeks.

Currently, we had to cancel our BWV in Aug. again personal circumstances caused the change. We had to change to the last week in July. Although BWVs were booked we were able to get ressies at VWL. We were happy with the VWL- -it will be our first time. It always pays to waitlist you never know when they will come through.

When we had to cancel our Xmas reservations MS said we were going to make someone happy. Enjoy! Good luck with the waitlist.

I would consider myself very lucky with my past waitlist requests...I'm 4 for 4, 2 with 5+ months before the trip, other 2 where the trip was initially booked only 3 weeks before arrival date and waitlist came thru with 1 week left before arrival date.

IMHO you have a win-win situation. We own at BWV and LOVE IT. We were always hesitant to stay at OKW just because it is not in the middle of the action. Well, we just returned on 5/18 from a trip with extended family. We spent 6 nights at BWV and then moved to OKW for 9 nights. Let me tell you, I have a whole new appreciation for OKW. When we walked in and saw the size of the rooms there....OH MY. My parents fell in love with the place and so did we. The boat trip to DD was most enjoyable, the porch with a view of the golf course was wonderful, parking in front of our two bedroom (we always rent a car) was SO convenient. Olivias is fabulous. The pool, community hall, tennis, etc. We can't wait to go back. Anyway, just wanted to add the 2 cents of a die-hard BWV fan. Your BIL will be impressed at either place IMHO.
:D

Thanks, WDWfantasy, for responding. I really appreciated your views on OKW especially since you are a diehard BWV fan.:D
