How hard is the QS DDP?

I am curious to know if it is hard to figure out what you can and can not order on the QS dining plan. I think I am a little confused about how it works exactly. Can you order whatever you want as an entree at CS? It always includes a drink and desert, right? Do you have to do each person's order separately, considering they each have their own card? I am worried I am going to get confused about who has however many credits left over because we will have 6 separate cards.
Does the QS meal plan really work out to be a saving option?
Is there a list when you order of what you are allowed to get?
Sorry, I keep looking for answers but I keep getting more confused. I am concerned that we are going to be the idots in line holding everyone else up! :lmao:

It is actually really really easy. You have 6 people on your reservation so you will get 2 CS meals per person per night. So if you are staying 5 nights you will have 60 CS credits. All the credits are pooled on the reservation and each card has access to ALL the credits not just the credits for that person. So all 6 of you go to eat and lets say mom and dad order for everybody. You will hand the order taker 1 card and they will deduct 6 CS credits from your card and on the receipt it will show the number of CS credits left for the entire reservation and stay. Now let's say you have 2 lumberjacks in your group and they go off on their own and decide to eat 6 CS meals each at one sitting. Yes they can and will be allowed to order that many meals each and yes it will deduct 12 credits from your reservation. So it is important to tell people going off on their own that they can get 2 meals per day.

As for what they can order. Here is the list of restaurants that accept the dining plan.

You can pretty much order any entree on the menu. Most of them now days already come with a side like fries with a hamburger, or beans with BBQ chicken. If they don't you are entitled to a side and a drink and a dessert. You should always order a large drink, because if you do not you will get a small.

Does it save money There are tons of posts debating that subject. I think it saves stress as it is already paid for.

You will not hold the line up as the order takers are well trained in guiding you through the order process. Most CS at Disney have very limited menus so it is easy to order. Please don't let this stress you out as it will be very simple when you get there. Look at the list then go to allears.net and look at the menus. Then have a great time on vacation.

THank you so much!!! That sounds so much better than how I was picturing it in my head. It helps to know I don't need to hand over 6 cards each time! Thank you for the link too. That helps so much.

The cards will say how many adults and how many children on the plan, so if the restaurant has a child's menu they will let you order the number of adult and child meals corresponding to the number of adults and children you have on the card (if it's like your signature you would have 3 adults and 3 children, so they are not supposed to let you order 4 adult meals and pay for them all with DDP.)

This is how Disney says they will be handling CS orders on DDP. Per policy here on the DIS Restaurant Board, discussion of using the children's credits to buy adult meals at restaurants that have a child's menu will be deleted.

In general, children's meals at Disney CS will have some entree selections, some beverage selections, then a list of items they can get as "sides" of which they can select two. These lists usually won't contain soft drinks or french fries, but in most CS places if your child wants either you can ask for them. The thing about selecting the two "sides" is that one of them will count as the child's dessert. The lists are usually fruits and vegetables, they will most of the time have sweet items on them like a cookie or an ice cream sundae, but sometimes they don't and you need to ask if there are any sweet options.

To avoid holding up the line check the menus with your children, and determine what they want to order before you get in the line to order the food.

We have used the QSDP 2 times now. It looks like all your questions were answered. But if you come up wi h something else just pm me. We opted for it again this year.

It's been a few years since I used the CS DP so forgive me if I'm just being misinformed; but I don't remember ever being entitled to a side item unless it comes with a side.

Did this change?

You are correct...you only get a side item if it comes with the item you order...for example at the Yorkshire County Fish place in Epcot you get the fish and chips (fries) which is one entree...you also get a dessert, but keep in mind that for many of the smaller CS venues you may only get a choice between one or two dessert items...at a place like Wolfgang Puck Express in Disney Marketplace the desserts include things like creme brûlée, cheesecakes, fresh fruit, etc..

As PP have said it is very easy to use. We have done it twice so far (after having the regular DDP many times before) and will be using it again (for free) Art of Animation this fall.

I have a QSDP review-click on link below if you would like to read about our choices-I didn't have one burger or chicken strip!:goodvibes

First thing - Be sure to tell the CM that you are on the plan. Don't be afraid to ask questions. Not sure if this is still doable but some places allow you to get an extra water instead of a dessert. You will get tired of the desserts. But as I said before ASK!!! Also on the receipt they will tell you how many credits you have left. I would keep up with this.
