How efficient is Mears and is there a more economical way to get from the airport to Wilderness Lodge for 2 people?

Hi!
When DD and I do our mother/daughter trips we always use Mears and have always found them to be reliable and reasonably efficient (only complaint would be the wait time on arrival at MCO when occassionally we've had to wait 30mins). I think for two people they are cost effective but I don't have anything to compare as we've never used a towncar service. Hope this helps.

We have had good luck with Mears in our past trips. We never had to wait more than a few minutes. Once when we were in the airport ready to catch a plane for home, my son discovered that his wallet had fallen out on the Mears bus. I called them and asked them to notify the bus driver. They found it and mailed it to our home for no charge. Also, if you are staying at a Disney resort and decide you want to go to Universal Studios or somewhere else Mears will take you for only about $7 per person (round trip).

I've used Mears several times and have been quite pleased with them each time. This last time, I was at the desk buying my ticket and the lady said a van was getting ready to pull out, so I should hurry. The other worker who was standing there ran out ahead of me to stop it, so I wouldn't have to wait for another van. The other times, I've waited no more than 20 minutes. And, actually, I kinda' enjoy the downtime. I use it to start enjoying the warm Florida weather and start thinking about my plans after I arrive. And I truly don't mind stops at any other hotels either. I like to see what else is out there and I love just seeing everything.

If you're in a real hurry to get to your resort, then I'd probably go with a towncar service. If you aren't, then I'd stick with Mears for just two people.

After flying all day, Seattle to Orlando, I got to the Mears Counter and their voucher machine was down and they were in the process of fixing it. They took one look at my tired face and lead me to the transfer van informed the driver that I was ok to get me to my resort and don't worry about my voucher they would get it to him when he returned. That kind of customer service has sold me ever since and they continue to show friendly service, I will once again use them on my next trip which will be in July with my family. Have a Disney Day!:earsgirl:

We have used Mears and I will not use them again. The last time we used them we waited an hour before we finally left the airport. After flying all morning the last thing I want to do is wait in an airport for an hour, I like the idea of knowing that someone is there ready to take me to WDW. We used TTC in Dec. and it worked out great.

I would definitely recommend the towncar service. We have done both and was very disappointed with Mears, we had to wait at airport for at least 45 minutes. Some friends of ours were with use on the same trip and they rented a car from National. They got to the hotel first and checked in, unpacked, and were down at the pool having an ice cold drink before we even arrived at the hotel to check in. Would never recommend Mears to anyone!!!!!!!!

I've used both towncars and Mears and have had good and bad experiences with both.

Once a long wait for Mears at the airport and a crowded van, another time a towncar service never showed at our hotel to pick us up--even though I reconfirmed 2x from the hotel.

In general, I have found Mears to be the most cost-efficient for 2 people. With the $3.00 off coupon that came with the resort reservation confirmation, it will be $25 round-trip for each adult. A towncar would be $75, so if there are only 2 and you have a tight budget use Mears and the money you save on something else.

If comfort and convenience are more important to you, a towncar is the way to go---unless you have the money to get a limo!!!! ;-)

We definitely prefer the Towncar or renting our own, but of only 2 people, Mears probably will be the most economical. If you had 3, the difference between the cost of Mears, and a Towncar would be negligiable, and for the added convenience of the Towncar, it is worth the extra couple of dollars.

just to let you know, the town car and mears are the same company just different ways and prices to get there.

I have used Mears many times to and from the airport. Never waited more
that 20 minutes. Now need to go from a Disney resort to Discovery
Cove. Who would be the best to use. Have to be there when it
opens for a very early dolphin swim. I am the only one going.
