How good are you at putting laundry away??

I Hate putting away. It makes it upstairs and sits in baskets for a week, when I need the baskets for the next week laundry. I don't know why? I was forced as a child to put my laundry away, maybe thats why I don't now that I don't have to.

I am completely the same way. In fact, at this moment I have about 3 loads that I have to fold on my couch. There are another 2 or 3 already folded and sorted on top of our pool table. They tend to sit there and we pull out of the piles daily until a day when we end up having people over and I have to straighten up and then everyone has to put the piles away so we can play pool.

Currently, there are 3 huge blue IKEA shopping bags full on my upstairs landing. . . check back with me next week, I'm sure they'll be there (but they'll be smaller, because we'll wear clothes out of them for a week!)

We recently got rid of our laundry table (oops! I mean pool table. ) so I had to figure out a different system for dealing with folded laundry. As much as I find the Duggars and their ever-growing number of children a bit on the too icky sweet side, I've always liked her idea of the family closet. We have 6 kids and we never get the laundry put away. It gets washed, dried, folded and piled-up, but their dressers sit virtually empty. The only clothes that get actually put into a dresser is my 2 oldest DS's and that's because their bedroom is right next to where I fold the laundry. I got a relatively inexpensive wire storage system from IKEA and set it up downstairs close by where we fold the laundry. Everyone has their own set of drawers, but they're all together and nearby where I fold the laundry so it actually gets put away. As an added bonus, the kids are actually able to find their own outfits from their drawers in the morning. We've been doing it for about 6 weeks now and I've actually managed to stay on top of laundry for the first time ever. DH was very reluctant at first because his theory was we should just put the laundry away in their rooms or have them do it. It's a nice theory, but we haven't done it for 12 years so I'm pretty sure we wouldn't start now. Now that it seems to be working he likes the idea.

My DH couldn't believe it when I said I wanted that project done FIRST in the long long line of projects I have for him!

So now there are boy tubs in cubbies and girl tubs in cubbies, and all the kid clothes really do get put away at some point. Another benefit is that there are no clothes in the kids' rooms to remove from drawers and toss around like confetti! That just makes a mama happy!

The adult clothes in the house are sadly, sitting in baskets and piled on the floor. Got to come up with a better system there!

I decided Thursday that with all the stuff coming up in the next 2 months .......softball games, practice, a couple of weekend trips, a baby shower, wedding and a birthday party (UGH) I was going to get the laundry done. I folded 2 baskets Thursday, DH was supposed to do a basket Friday but didn't and today I folded 3 baskets of laundry and did 4 overflowing baskets of hang up clothes. AND I AM DONE!!!!!! Except for 1 tiny load in the dryer that I'm not counting This is the first time in a couple of months that I haven't had clothes that needed to be done. And the first time in about 4 months that I actually did it myself instead of pestering DH into doing it. (And then refolding all my clothes because he's horrible at folding but I let him do it anyway because I hate it that much) I'm so proud of myself right now!!!

Next task, get all my ducks in a row for my DSis baby shower that I'm hosting next week and addressing invites for DD's 5th birthday party next month. Guess a mother's work is NEVER done!!!!

I do laundry on Monday and Friday, only. I fold the laundry (on our bed), then each person is responsible for putting away their clothes/towels for kitchen, bathrooms, etc. This is just part of my kiddos' chores. It's pretty easy - even our 2 year old puts away her clothes.

I finally moved my mountain of laundry thathas been accumulating on our bed since we got home, to the living room couch - thinking that I would be more likely to fold it! well its been about 24 hours and its still there in its entirty (sp?) with 2 extra loads added to it from today. The light at the end of the tunnel is that we are having family over tomorrow for DS8s birthday so I HAVE to get it done! But I may cave and move it back on to my bed should I not get ambitious between now and 4PM tomorrow!?!?

lol I am sooo glad I am not the only person who has this problem lol i think its because to me other jobs can be finished BUT laundry is never ever done so I am never done...I am doing laundry for 5 people and I am never done...

How's that Laundry coming??? Anyone getting any better about putting cloths away, organizing and or doing laundry?? I am feeling better about it, but still not as good as I'd like to be!! I hought I would pop in and see how everyone was making it this summer... I have confined my kids to bathing suits and one t-shirt and towel per day, so it helps with the laundry loads for sure!!

I love having my laundry room next to the kitchen. I fold the laundry as it comes out of the dryer and leave it sitting on the kitchen bar. If people want to eat, they put their laundry away! The kids and dh put their own away and I never have an issue with it.

I'm another one who hates to put the laundry away. I'm pretty good at washing and folding... I just hate to put it away.

Having 5 kids, I do laundry daily, with the exception of maybe Christmas. All but my 5 year olds are responsible for putting away their own laundry, and since the cleaning ladies come every 2 weeks, I am forced to eventually put the twins laundry away.

I'm a single girl living alone, so I only need to do laundry every 10 days or so (yay!). I bring my laundry to the laundry mat, wash it, dry it, fold it.. then it usually sits clean and folded in the laundry basket in my room. I have two baskets, and they rotate every wash for which one is the clean basket and which one is the dirty basket.

I just can't put it away sometimes!

I'm right with you except I have 5 loads to put away and 3 more to wash. I think Saturday is going to be a laundry all day day again.

y'all make me feel so much better!
it is so bad here that I just keep buying more laundry baskets...
they are lined up across the master bedroom like little soldiers...
I will gladly wash, I will fold, I will sort into baskets by family member but for whatever reason it is beyond me to to actually put them away in a timely manner.
we are expecting #3 and I NEED to find a better way.
i just started paying DD almost 6, $1 per week to put her laundry away. 3 weeks, and she is doing it!!! Yay.

bkreitzel - GREAT idea about 6 year old....I have DD6 and she is always asking what she can do to help and putting her clothes away may be great for her. She is already responsible for all the silverware in the dishwasher. I will try and add this next week!!

I currently have 3 load to fold and need to wash at least 3-4 more!! It is a never ending cycle!!!
