How good are the Osborne Lights?

If my husband didn't just have MAJOR back surgery nov. 10 I would have spent the $ to go down and see them one more time.. my boss would have killed me, but I wouldn't care. I would've gone for just a few nights, $84 a night with my AP discount at all star sports. my least favorite resort.

arly dec I wouldn't go between Christmas and New years. too crazy! ps look for the cat!

We saw this for the first time on the 8th of this month. We are going back in December to say goodbye but wish we had gone each year since we moved here in 2010. As to whether it was worth it- I cried as I saw Pop grinning like a little boy. I didn't have my camera with me right then, but I hope I never forget. It was worth everything to me!

saw them for the first time, it was cool, but way way too crowded, seriously, you couldn't move, you can barely look around, it was shoulder to shoulder, solid mass of humanity, That really puts a bad taste in your mouth.

We saw them for the first time in Jan 2005 and thought they were over the top, over kill, something Clark Griswald would do. We went back this Nov 6 just because they're going away, didn't change our minds.

when i saw pictures i was worried theyd give me a headache and thus ruin my night but we went anyways taking the risk and i loved it, you definately dont need a ton of time for it like 10-20minutes is fine but its worth checking out

I love the lights! We were just at WDW for a week in October, but I really tried to figure out a way to make a weekend trip to get us there to see them one more time. Unfortunately it just isn't going to happen for us. With airfare, it was going to cost almost $4,000. I couldn't stomach that for a 3 night trip with just 2 full park days. I don't like going when they turn them on because it is too packed to see anything. I much prefer going after that initial crowd has thinned out so we can just savor the area. We love taking our time and really looking at the details. We usually buy the hot chocolate they sell and just stay back there for a long time enjoying every single thing. One of my favorite WDW memories is the year some friends met us for a couple of days, and we were back by the bathrooms in the area which is kind of away from things, but you can still see the lights and the 3 kids were just dancing their hearts out to the music for a long time. Funny how what started as a bathroom break turned into a favorite memory!!! If there was any way that I could fit a last trip into our schedules at a reasonable price, we would be there one more time!

I know that, but since BeerMe mentioned Ozzy (well, he spelled it "Ozzie"), I thought maybe he thought they were, which is why I asked. And in fact, it's the Osborne Lights, not Osbourne, which is how Ozzy spells it.
That post was a joke. A play on words. I thought it was very funny

Found it! It was written on Chip and Co. Says it's a rumor until actually confirmed.
Sorry, I don't know how to post the article here.
That is the one site that posts more rumors than any others. They are worse than a Disney bus driver ;)
Someone else will have to report it before I even give it credibility as being a rumor

But the Oz has done so may drugs even he doesn't know how to spell his name. I still like him and his lights though

Timing is everything where the lights are concerned. It's a LOT less crowded if you wait until Fantasmic is running, or the hour before park close, to see them.

In fact, in previous years we've gone, they've kept the lights on and allowed you to tour them up to an hour *after* park close. Which was amazing! We were almost the only people there. :)

That is the normal practice all the time.

as someone who has viewed them in their original locations in Arkansas. They are extremely tacky now.

The 1st few years at disney, when it was on the golden girls street, it was nice. Close to what the actual osborne lights were. Now, it is just disney trying to put a light on every square inch if the streets of america. it is tacky. it is time for it to go.

I love Christmas, Christmas songs, Christmas decorations, tacky or not. But I just didn't "get" the lights. Saw them last week for the first time. What I mean is it would never occur to me to book a trip just to see them. Very crowded, and they are just lights. I would definitely see them again if I happened to be there, and I would try for a time that wasn't crowded. I realize that a lot of people disagree...maybe it is because I haven't seen them every year so there is no nostalgia involved?

We always enjoy the lights. Our favorite year was 2004 when we were celebrating Mom's 85th birthdays! I hate to see them go.

Just got back from our first time a few minutes ago. Better than we could have ever imagined. Loved them, even in the crowds. Watching everyone singing and dancing to the music added so much to the experience. Can't wait to see them again on Thanksgiving night!

Haven't read all the responses but I will say one of my favorite things I've seen anywhere in the parks and very sad to see them go. Usually walk around for over an hour for at least one night. If you can - go!

Loved seeing them...heading down next week to enjoy all the Christmas festivities!
