How FOTL worked with room key July 11 & 12

There have been some threads asking about how exactly the room keys are used (does everyone need one, can my friend get one, etc.). Here is how it worked for us last weekend:

When I made my reservation last month they asked for the full name of each person staying in the room and their age.

Upon check in they printed a card for each person with their name and a code for A or C (adult or child). I am assuming this is done so that 4 adults don't share a room and register two as teenagers (so they don't have to pay the extra adult room charges). The cards were also dated with the length of our stay. When I asked about each person needing one they said that every person--even children required a card to get FOTL.

At the rides the cards were looked at by the attractions employees. Not just a glance but an actual read. Additionally, at some rides they were scanned. At all of the rides there were at least 2 - 3 checks made of our cards (not just the first person we came to)

I was glad to see USF/IOA tightening up on the use of room keys. When DH and I were last there they gave us one card and said it was good for up to 4 people. I just pictured the fraud/abuse that could have been happening if that was the case. (example: tell them there's 4 in a room--get 4 room keys and then have friends come and there is now 16 people using FOTL instead of 4) Please note I said COULD and gave an extreme example--I'm not saying anyone actually did it but the potential was there.

I did find that the express lines seemed longer and saw many people using the express pass that is sold in the parks. I agree with another poster that the lines were shorter after 4:00--due to the people who had purchased the express pass having used up their one time pass earlier in the day. To take best advantage of the room key access I would say first hour of opening and any time after 4:00 works best for the more popular rides.

Hope this helps someone.

Thanks........ We will be going in aug. and as I posted as well, they asked for each persons name and age when I booked the room, and told me that upon checking in each of us would get a room key...... even the baby.... (3). How crowded was it while you were there...... we will be going the week school starts back.... so, i'm hoping for less crowds!!!!!!

Nice report, Belle. Thanks. This pretty much parallels my recent experience, although a few times my wife and I were just waved past after flashing a single key.

Just wondering, from those who have returned recently, how long did you have to wait with FOTL. I reserved on site, specifically to get this perk, so I am hoping no more than 15 minutes. Of course, we will still do Shrek and Jimmy first. Thanks!

In most areas, you'll have a 15 or fewer wait with FOTL. With Shrek and Jimmy, the FOTL wait is very likely to increase.

We were there from the 9th to the 17th and must agree that after 4pm the wait times are very short. We did Jimmy at least 10 times and never waited over 5 min. I will say that it's not the same as it was before they started selling passes and added the 1100 rooms at the RPR. FOTL still beats anything that the Mouse has going. We never waited over 10 min for any ride and that sure beats the 90 to 120 without it.

we were there july 14 and 15th (mon and Tues) ...we didn't wait longer than 5 minutes in any of the express lines. No more than 5 people in front of us except on the "one fish, two fish" ...there might of been 10 people in front of us. we walked on to most everything. the wait times in the regular lines ranged from 15 minutes (MIB at 11am!) to 75 minutes.

Just got back yesterday from PBH. Went to the parks 4 days, all different times. The longest wait I had was 10-12 minutes for Shrek. The posted wait time was 110 MIN.

It sounds like the parks are not really crowded....... I'm hoping they aren't when we get there!!!!

The park was PACKED today, after all it is a Saturday, but with the express plus pass we were on everything in about 10 minutes. Some queues were up to 75 minutes!
