How fast do you type?

I subbed in a Computer class today. They were all typing on the Mavis Beacon typing program. So I logged in and typed out some of their lessons to see what my typing score would be.

My best score was 61 words per minute with one error!!!


I'm not going to tell you how many fingers I used, tho!!

When I was in school about 22 years ago taking typing. I could only get as fast as 25. Because of the internet, I'm about 45-50.

Not great, but better than it was.

65 to 75 WPM, plus I can do the number keypad just as fast if not faster. (Sorry, don't mean to toot my own horn)

I've been told I can type "pretty darn fast" by many I'm not sure exactly how fast anymore though and it will never be error free to to me having dyslexia (can't get my letters in the right order).

Right now 60 to 65 words per minute. I like to type, but wouldn't want to make a living from it.

I can do 200 wpm. Yes that's two hundred words per minute. But hey, I'm in court reporting school and that's using a steno machine.

On a regular key board I can do about 70 wpm. My fingers are trained to move fast

Not very fast! If I wanted to apply for the job that I have now, I would have to be able to type 45 WPM (which really isn't that fast). Except, I do absolutley NO typing in my job! I can't make a lateral change in employment - they won't even send me out to interview until I pass the test. I know I could do it if I worked a while at it. I just don't have any desire to at this point. Besides, I like my job.

Very slow....at least to my thinking. I wasn't allowed to take typing in school, so I don't know my WPM.

I used to type about 80-90 WPM when I took typing in high school, but I'm much slower now. I think I probably type around 55 or so.

65-70 wpm unless I'm mad, then more like 100-110 wpm. Atleast.

In hs we had a 100 point + club, and I think I got up to 105 or 110 wpm, but we typed the same sentence the whole year. My fingers remember they key pattern. Our sentence was:

A quick red fox jumped over the lazy cub.

HA! I think I type a word a minute! I actually dropped typing in HS! I remember the teacher saying, "You can't drop typing! NOBODY drops typing." Now, I wish I hadn't. All these people who joined the DIS after me type so fast that I dropped out of the top 20 posters!!

Browneyes, I thought I remembered our sentence as, " The quick brown fox jumped over the lazy dog."

Oh my old brain forgets exactly how fast I used to type
I think it was 60-65 wpm on a type writer (dating myself)
I'd say I gained at least 10+wpm on a computer so much faster
but I'm older now I don't know how fast I really type. sigh

Like browneyes much faster and harder when I'm mad
