I own at AKV and BWV and to measure how fast I am going to have to make my reservation if I want NYE but I am not going on-line or calling until December 30, I have been following the rooms on-line since the 25th. What I found when going on line on Jan 25 to get Dec 25 start date, going on line Jan 26 to get Dec 26 start date, and going on-line Jan 27 to get Dec 27 start date is that the following were no longer available by 10:00 a.m. eastern daily: AKV concierge, AKV value, BWV boardwalk view, and BWV standard view, for all room sizes; also BWV Grand Villa, but AKV grand villas, both Jambo and Kidani, are still open for all Christmas week days.

What is interesting is the system keeps showing future days open; for example if checking Dec 27 start date on Jan 27 you will see Dec 27 and days before gone but days after still open even though you would supect some of those future days would also be gone if members are making more than one day reservations. I am guessing there is a limitation in the program that prevents showing whether those future days are already filled. However, at the same time, I heve been finding the applicable rooms open for the day, e.g., Dec 27 if going on line Jan 27, if you go on-line at 8 a.m. eastern.

I personally have had a reservation since 1/22 for check in 12/22 and have called everyday at 9AM to add a day to get us to 1/2/2013. When I checked on line it shows the 1st day not available but the rest available but in fact when I called yesterday to add my last day I knew I already had the room since no one could book a check in date of 1/1/2012 they would have to had booked it 6 nights ago.

After braving the crowds last year, all I have to say is YA'LL CAN HAVE CHRISTMAS WEEK!!! :lmao:

Was wondering how this would work out and if it shows the effect that being able to book from check in date out 7 days has on those who only want a day or two in those hard to get ranges for example NYE. I am probably one of the few who preferred the old make the reservation from day of check out even if it meant calling every day to get it.

lol So I have heard! We have 2 DD's in college and have gone every Feb for 10 nights but the past 3 years we only get 4 days together as a family so I thought I would try it with no expectations for 10 nights! DH has the week off for shut down also! We have done parks for 17 years running so I am thinking more resorts, x-mas decorations and such.

That is our situation as well. Both DD's in college. DH has the time off because of his company shutting down over the holidays. We have always wanted to go for Christmas and just chill - not worry so much about doing all the rides - but instead just soak up the holiday atmosphere - Disney style.

We will be there for a week starting Dec 22nd - VWL and as of a few minutes ago I could still book a studio for that time frame. I am surprised. I thought it would be filling up MUCH faster than it is. Maybe because I was looking for a studio?

So do those who are asserting unfairness with starting on-line reservations at exactly 11 months out (or 7) at 8 a.m. rather than 9 a.m., when you can call, have a legitimate gripe? Consider: At 8 eastern this morning, January 28, you could still get AKV concierge, and also AKV value studios and 2BRs starting December 28. Those were gone by 8:10.

I do not think anyone should have a gripe we ALL have the ability to book online at 8AM eastern std time. Seems fair to me since all members have access at the same time. If you have a special request or need a HA room I would book it on line and then call at 9 with those request.

Agree with you. Since all members have access, then it's a fair system. Posted on another thread, but it's really no different than those members who could always call right at 9:00 am vs. those of us who couldn't--my job prevented me--so I was always booking an hour or two later than others.

Seems fair to me. It also appears there's a lot of "walking" going on. I've been watching ONLY the AKV Value rooms. Every day, the 11 month DAY ...and ONLY that day...is booked. So it's not like everyone is reserving on the 24th for 7 nights and completely booking all the value studios. The 1 BRs are available.

The same thing would be happening would ONLY calling for reservations, I'm sure.

I just went on line to book our December trip. We were deciding between 19th thru 24th or 26th thru 1st. I almost didn't even try for AKV value 1 bdrms after reading this thread, but to my surprise both times were available all those days. I booked the 19th thru 24th, but the 26th thru 1st is available still if anyone wants to snag it up!:thumbsup2

Why would that be evidence of walking? If a "walker" is following the prescribed procedure they will always be 6 days ahead of the 11 month window, not just right at it.
