How fast can a direct sale close?

If we bought something now, how fast could Disney close it (cash sale, no financing)? IE would we be able to cancel our fall ressie and use points instead? Are there still studios at the Epcot or MK resorts mid to late September (pre Food and Wine)? (Currently booked a split stay at Poly and BW in regular rooms on either side of our Dream cruise).

You don't need to close in order to book. Your guide can probably take a payment (or the full) right over the phone with a credit card. Membership number and info would be overnighted to you, once it's set up. And your guide might even be able to book a room for you before you get the membership number.

Usual DVC studios will largely be gone by now for those dates, but if you're buying direct the guides can pull extra rooms out of reserve for your first trip and book it themselves for you.

Tell them your purchase is contingent on them booking the trip and they will make it happen. Try to book it yourself after you purchase, and you may be disappointed.

That's what I was thinking. I bet we could get a really good deal on a stripped contract. Since we just got back from WDW this week and already have fall resorts booked we won't need points till 2015 and could pay cash again for rooms next year too if the price is right on the resale. g
