how far is miami really?

Oh just remembered, If are after somewhere to eat then Mannys Chophouse is just past the Walmart.

If you are not normally around this area then it is the perfect excuse to nip in and grab food. Not sure if you have been before but I highly recommend a visit if you are passing.

Thanks for this - it sounds like a great option for us as we are staying first at POFQ :thumbsup2 And we've never eaten at Manny's so it sounds like the perfect excuse to try!:woohoo:

i think i'm def going to book the MIA route then. i didnt realise so many do it this way and at least we get the good VA planes!!!

I'm sure the girls would sleep most of the drive anyway so it would just be me trying to keep awake

we are staying at SSR so a stop at walmart would eb handy as well

Orangetiggs - if your girls are anything like my daughter was at that age they will be asleep by the time you leave the car rental garage!!;)

Just set the cruise control and you will be in Orlando before you know it!

i cant wait now might have to book them today and then start saving! girls will love it

Hi there,

We finally landed in Miami after a 60!!! hour delay on Dec 21st last year, we were booked for flights the next day although I decided to drive as I am used to the american I95 and thought what the hell. The distance from the airport was around 220 miles and it took be a little under 3.5 hours including a brief scrimmish with the law and subway. Drive it's not that bad an easy route.

We did this very journey yesterday (got back this am)! We paid £1400 for direct return flights to MIA for four of us at Easter so worked out to be a good saving even with a night in a hotel at each end. (have a fab recommendation if anyone needs top class, reasonable accomm. near the airport). We took the I95 and the journey took 4 hrs (inc a comfort break). Would certainly do it again if the flight prices were as competitive. We flew with AMerican airlines and they were brilliant.

just looked at AA and it comes to 900 for our dates so really good price

what was it like flying with them? i have only done internal usa with them

there are a few;) of us who got bargains for aug - so ill let you know when we get back:cloud9:

Virgin fly from LHR to MIA, not LGW.

AA were great. We flew on a 777 where there is a 2-5-2 seating configuration - the pair of seats are a good choice. Seat back entertainment on demand and very good food. The american crew were professional and attentive. The only downside is that you pay for alcoholic drinks.

thanks i dont drink, esp not on a plane, one bad experience;)never again...
arriving on holiday with a hangover is one thing, everyone starring at you for a week is another:rotfl2:

dont drink so wouldnt be a problem for us and we have 2 infants with us so no time for food or drink!! might have a talk to DH and see what he thinks

Wondered if it was from Heathrow. Haven't flown from there as only about 45 mins from Gatwick. It wouldn't be getting there so much, but the journey home! Think the drive on the M25 would be too much!!
Thanks for the info though

Jules x
