How far in advance should I ask for points?

The earliest someone can help you is 11 months from the time you want to go.

If it is their "home resort" they can book 11 months out and if not they can book 7 months out at the other resorts.

My suggestion would be to negotiate your deal now with a DVC owner. Secure your points with a small deposit and get everyhing in writing. You will know how much you will be paying for your vacation and the DVC owner will be prepared to make the reservation as soon as the 11th month priority reservation window opens. I usually take a 10% deposit now to reserve the points from my account. I then send a letter of agreement out to the renter to make sure everyone is on the same page and I have all the information correct. I then require an additional 20% just prior to me booking he actual reservation. With all the addiional DVC owners and the popularity of the Beach Club getting your reservation secured as early as possible will avoid settling for a second or third choice of Resorts. docdds@aol.com
