I am considering buying my wife and I Florida Resident Seasonal Annual Tickets for Christmas. The problem is we live 4 hours from Disney World, so we are not close enough to be able to go for the day without a hotel stay. I am just wondering, for any of you that have annual passes and come for a day or weekend, how far do you live from DW??

For us, 2 and 1/2 hours. Think of it this way, you would only have to go more than 3 and 1/2 times to get your money's worth out of the seasonal pass!! As a Florida resident, it is WELL worth for you if you are Disney lovers! And, as for low cost hotel (if that is something you are interested in) check out the home page of The Dis! Have fun! :earsboy:

10 hours away. I still go the weekend.

I would consider staying offsite to save dollars.

4 hours for would not be nothing. I would come back home the same day. Sun to one in the morning would be good.

3 hrs from here, if I dont stop on the way. Did it all the time when Heather was younger. Wont be doing anual passes next time. Package w/ dining instead. Therefore no compulsion to go back again, and again.........

I do understand why DH says NO MORE ANNUAL PASSES :rotfl: :rolleyes1

Thanks everyone. I just can't decide, my DW and I really like to splurge at DW. I think we would perfer to stay on-site then off-site and go to nice restaurants. Does anyone know if disney offers special rates on rooms with the seasonal pass, or are hte FL resident room rates as good as it gets??

Generally, FL res rates are the best going...usually the same as AP, but sometimes $5-10 less (not as often lately).

We had AP's when we lived in JAX and frequently went for the day....it was only 2 hr, 10 min for us to get there. Now we live 70 minutes door-to-door, so we go whenever we can! Sometimes for the day, sometimes overnight.

Before kids, we sometimes did day trips that were 5 hours each way (antique fairs, favorite stores, etc) but that's just too long for my kids (ages 3 and 5).

24hrs by car and we still squeeze in long weekends. Next week we'll only be there 3 nights. But when you get SWA direct for $40 each way you jump. I would think 4 hours is very easy to do.

seven hour or so drive....we don't go for too many weekends. We usually try to stay at least 4 or 5 days.

For us - 7-8 hours depending on if we leave from work or home and the Atlanta traffic. Done The Mouse Suicide Runs. This is what we do. Leave the Atlanta area after work (maybe that's 3:00, maybe 6:00) on Friday. Stop in Valdosta Exit 5 off I75. Cheap and decent Days Inn. Get up and on the road by no later than 8:00 Saturday morning. Checking into hotel by 11:30, going through a turnstyle at a park by noon. Have the rest of Saturday at Disney World. Sunday, go home.

We do this for special events like the Flower Power concert series, the Food and Wine Festival, and just because it's been over two months since I've been there.

It's basically driving for 15 hours for 10 hours of Disney but, trust me, it's so totally worth it.

2 1/2 hr drive to Buffalo and 2 1/2 hr flight Buff to MCO. We have been going Thursday night and flying back Monday night.

3.5 hours away, seasonal pass and I go for the day many times and drive back same day, but I'm a bit insane and most normies would never do this. Also do several weekend trips and 4-5 day trips a year. Would love to stay at the Boardwalk and Wilderness Lodge on every visit but people have to work.

2 1/2 hr plane ride away. DH and I have only done it once, but of course I would do it again in a heartbeat! :goodvibes

I live in Maine. Depending on where I fly from, it's a 30 minute to 2 hour car ride, a 3.5 hour to 7 hour flight, and I have a premium annual pass voucher in my safe that I hear crying out to me at 2am "c'mon - go on a quick trip - activate me now!" :earboy2:

My definite plans for the coming year are a minimum of 2 one-week stays. Since I don't drive, I always stay onsite. If I can work everything out with my jobs, finances, vacation days, the way I've been daydreaming, there will be 2 or 3 weekend trips, too.

When I got my first annual pass, it really helped to plan an extra trip or two during the year. Having that already paid for was a big plus.

Have fun, whatever you decide!

Cheers!

We live 45 minutes, door to door, so we go for day trips quite often. In fact I need to get to bed b/c I'm planning to take DS to AK tomorrow. Everyone bailed on me for the Christmas Parade taping so it's just me and DS and I don't feel dealing with the crowds at MK so AK it is. LOL

Four hour trip to airport each way (closest SWA airport) :moped: , 1 1.5 hr flight (always nonstop) :teleport: , 4 day weekend...priceless!!
Getting ready to do it again and lovin' it!!!
