How Far Do You Drive?

Our drive is usually 22 -24 hours one way. Dh is a commando driver too. For us to fly it would cost our family over a 1200.00 and driving only cost us 500.00 at most round trip. We pack food for our meals and we stop at Mcdonalds for dinner to let the kids out to run and play for a little while. My kids are great travelers!

We alternate between flying and driving.

When we drive its a 2 day trip. It takes us (roughly) 10 hours to get from our home in Texas to Pensacola Florida. We stay the night in Pensacola and then continue on to Orlando which is another 8 hours.

1,127 miles, it takes about 17 hours. Flying would be alot easier but I like to see the things along the way on a drive. Not to mention all of my trips are unplanned so airfare would be way to expensive at the last min.

About 550 miles from our house to the Mouse's House- takes us 8.5- 9 hours, depending on how many gas/potty stops we make.

We drive from the New Haven, CT area. We usually stop for the night in North Carolina (Charlotte area) to stay with my brother-in-law.

Our families and friends always make these sympathetic groaning sounds (and eye rolls) whenever we tell them we're driving to Disney World, but it's really not that bad. And with the invention of the iPod, the Nintendo DS and the portable DVD player, driving with the kids has never been easier. Of course, the inevitable "Are we there yet?" question is still asked about half a dozen times.

On almost every drive down, my husband will always say, "Next time we fly." This usually happens once we hit South Carolina.

My favorite part of the drive down? Seeing all of the Waffle Houses! Granted, we've only eaten at a Waffle House once, but I just like seeing them.

1,100 miles here in NW Indiana to WDW. Just returned Friday evening from a wonderful cold trip. Left at 4:15 a.m. Disney time and reached our door at 9:00 p.m. Friday evening. Only stops were for gas and one meal and my two adult sons did all the driving!!!! I was left to back seat driving.

We're from Pittsburgh too so DITTO. We just got back this morning, I drove it straight through on the way home. Not the best idea. We stopped on the way down for an overnight since we went through some really tough snow.

Did it last year with a 3 year old and 6 month old. That was ROUGH. It was a little better this year with the girls a little older. It'll be best when they're both old enough to entertain and feed and take themselves to the potty.

From where we live in OK, it's roughly 1300 miles; takes about 20 hours.

We live in the ArkLaTex (NW Louisiana). It takes us about 14 hours to drive. I-49 to I-10 to I-75. Stop for the night if we leave in the morning at Tallahassee or a little bit further down the road. We'll wind up getting to WDW around 11AM the next day.

If we leave after school/work, we'll drive to Daphne, AL (right across the Bay from Mobile, AL) - about six/seven hours (close to midnight arrival there) - then finish up the drive around 2 or 3PM into WDW.

So from DFW, you'll take I-20 to I-49 to I-10 (to I-12 and back to I-10) to I-75. When you hit Baton Rouge, do not go to New Orleans. Bypass NOLA by taking I-12 back to I-10 around Slidell. It will take you about 17 hours total.

23 hours - Minnesota to Orlando.

We generally take it in 3 days. About 13 hours the first day, about 8 hours the next day, and 2 hours the last day so that have all day at the park on the first day.

We've done 44 trips so far, about 3 of them we flew (way back when and I won't fly any more) we've driven alot but that was years ago (this past December trip we drove for the last time in a long time) and have used Amtrak for the rest. I prefer Amtrak (long trip due to big layover in DC) but alot less stressful and worry free.

This past first week of December we did trip 44 and drove due to granddaughter (11 months) mommie and daddy and us 2 and they needed the car room for all the baby stuff....Our car experience in a long time, we drove straight thru 16 hours from their home and I have to say...never again! In this day and age, being strapped in a car seat for16 hours is too much, on everybody, we made stops and such but it's not a pleasant journey, worse going home.....we'll go back to the train and they can drive or fly and meet us.

We just did the drive for the first time last month. 14 hours the first day(toss in a 30 minute traffic jam)... 6 hours the 2nd.

We drove from Michigan and it is almost 1200 miles.

We drove straight thru on the way home and it took 19 hours 10 minutes.


It really wasn't bad at all and we plan to do it again in about 2 years.

659 miles. My goal on the way down is to drive under the welcome sign by
4pm after leaving the house at 6am. On the way home we leave the Poly parking lot after breakfast at Kona and try to get home before dark.

I drive fast.

Flying in January thanks to cheap Southwest fares and a shorter trip.

Well, the last time I was at WDW (1991..eek!), we drove from Oregon to WDW. 2789 miles one way . That's what happens when your mother hates to fly. Tons of road trips. But I have a lot of great childhood memories from that trip.

But I don't see myself doing the whole marathon road trip as an adult. It's flying for us!

1193 miles. We usually leave early one morning, spend the night in SC and head into Disney the next day. My son loves the drive....and I have to say we have met some great people along the way.
