How far ahead should park passes be purchased

A friend and I will be visiting WDW during Wine and Food Festival late Oct/ early Nov. Already have ressies at BW but was wondering how far in advance should park hopper passes be purchased regarding park availability. I’m thinking soon but my husband thinks I’m rushing it.

They've already raised prices, right?
You have hotel reservations so you have access to a different bucket of reservations than regular guests.
Are you going to try to see if they get APs back at WDW?

If you know which parks you want you can book them now. You can always change them (depending on availability).

There is no real rush to book park reservations for Oct/Nov right now, in January. Usually, I tell people that they can purchase their tickets (and make reservations) as soon as they are 100% sure about their vacation dates. If you think something can change, you should consider waiting until you know your dates.

Above advice applies to park reservations which are not the same thing as park hoppers.

Park hoppers aren't anything to worry about in terms of availability. Park reservations DO need to be made prior to your trip.

You just add the park hopper to your tickets and (currently) can hop to any other park than your reserved one after 2:00 p.m. The one thing to know is that you can't hop until after you've tapped to enter at your reserved park. You needn't actually go into that park, just both tap the Mickey as if entering in case you've changed your minds about wanting to do your reserved park first.

Thought I'd explain this in case you were wondering about hoppers since you mentioned those.

No reason not to purchase tickets as soon as you're sure you'll be going. Prices generally only go in one direction. You'll almost certain be fine for reservations up until at least a couple weeks prior to your trip and for that time period most likely even longer. But again - no reason not to make them as soon as you have an idea of your plans since you can always change those.

I would get your tickets and make your park reservations then it is done and you don’t have to worry about it.

we bought ours late last year for a trip this August. But that was right before the price increases. If it wasn't for that, I probably wouldn't have bought so ahead of time.
