How expensive is wine in Copenhagen?

For some reason, I am thinking (have heard?) the cost of alcohol can be pretty expensive in some European countries.

So for all you experts in the know on Copenhagen, DK; I was wondering for our upcoming cruise next year, will it be worth it to take the chance and pack bottles of wine here at home (USA) for the long flight to Denmark. Or am I wrong in my thinking and I should just wait to buy our wine supply when in Copenhagen to bring on board the Magic?

It was free for us during the 4-hour long happy hour each night at the Marriott executive lounge.

I bought a few cans of beer at grocery stores to drink on our walks and I thought the prices were comparable to the US. I think beer and wine purchased at restaurants/bars is very expensive; purchases from grocery stores, not so much.

I wouldn't recommend packing wine in your luggage for a trip to Denmark in order to save a few kroner.

Everything in Copenhagen is more expensive. We didn't buy wine but pretty much everything we did buy short of street food was more expensive than what we'd pay in the US. I'd say it wouldn't hurt to bring a bottle or two.

We bought a couple of basic bottles and some snacks from the Rema 1000 grocery on Bernstroffsgade, one block past the Radisson Blu. There's an Irma grocery across the street. It was closed when we went by, so we didn't have a chance to check it out. Rema 1000 is similar to Aldi or Lidl.
If you're looking for a quick snack when walking around, grab a hotdog. A Fransk Polser ("french style hot dog") comes tucked into a tubular roll.

Here's a link to a specialty wine store two blocks from Tivoli (towards Marriott). It's all in Danish, but hopefully it will give you a rough idea (link starts at French red, divide all prices by 6.25 for USD). These are premium wines sold from a very expensive address. You can easily get good wines starting at around $30-40 at grocery stores, but I'd avoid anything below that price point. As others have pointed out, Copenhagen is very expensive. Particularly American wines will be priced much higher than we are used to in the US.

PS: I am Danish, live in the Las Vegas but visit Copenhagen 3-4 times per year. Like MUN, I usually enjoy the free wine at the executive lounge at the Marriott, my own favorite hotel.

We bought wine from the grocery store prior to our cruise last year. Prices were only slightly higher than U.K. Definitely no need to cart it with you.
I think beer was significantly more expensive due to the way it is taxed

Depending on the wine you drink aldi has wine at reasonable prices. Check out their danish Web site www.aldi.dk and remember to convert dkk (danish kroner ) to usd (US dollars). It looks like you can get some reasonable table wines for $10. They even sell boxed wines if that is your preference.

Aldi is a a discount grocer owned by the same people who owns Trader Joe's.

We waited and bought wine at a small grocer in Copenhagen. It was reasonably priced - maybe I paid about $12 a bottle. I found beer to be reasonable as well.

We just got back from a cruise and land trip to Scandinavia and if you can shop in Copenhagen you're in luck. Copenhagen is reasonable by North American standards, Oslo and Stockholm are way more expensive and only sell wine in specialty shops with very limited hours. We found Aldi had the best prices and good hours too.

Want to thank everyone for your replies. There will be six adults cruising, four that love wine (me included); and two only if they are sweet enough :tilt:
For those of you that have taken wine on board with you and brought them to your dining rotation, have most of you had the waiter charge you the corkage fee?
I know we will be drinking a glass or two of wine while under way; sitting out on the verandas.

We often pour a glass of wine in the room whilst getting ready for dinner. If not finished, we will carry it along to the mdr. Never been charged corkage in this circumstance.
Which Northern European itinerary are you doing? I found a decent wine shop in Bergen last year relatively handy to port.

We will be doing the 10 night Norwegian Fjord and Iceland cruise. So we will be in Kristiansand, Stavanger and Alesund Norway.
