I searched, but couldn't find the answer....

I have been asking so many questions about how to go w/ a broken foot in a walking boot, and everyone has been sooooo helpful.:flower3:
Well, the more I think about it, the more I believe that getting a scooter from an offsite company is the way to go. DH has offered to push me in a wc the whole time, but it is going to be very hot, and I don't want to wear him out more than he already will be with the heat and everything! The question I have is about how to get on the busses--how does it work? Do I get in line with everyone else? Do I just kind of stay by the curb and have someone travelling with me alert the driver when he pulls up? How long does it take? I really don't want to inconvienence others and have everyone staring at me! It has taken me a few weeks to even resolve to the fact, that I HAVE to use one, or I can't go. My 2 children have been looking forward to this for 6 months and we're definately going! I just want to be prepared for what to expect concerning the bus situations. Thanks!!!:goodvibes

Just wanted to add, do rent the ECV offsite it will make your trip so much more enjoyable for you and your family. MK and DS may not be too bad to push a wheelchair through (at times I actually prefer to at these 2 parks) but at EPCOT and AK forget it. :scared:

OOPS! Just found my answer--Thanks!!;)
That's OK. There is lots of information here.
I'm hoping you found the section of the disABILITIES FAQs thread about the buses (just mentioning that in case it's not what you found).

I rented one for my mom (in her 80's and not able to walk very far). Everyone was very helpful, and she was able to get all around and have a great time. She loved the monorails because you could just ride into them, and the same with the larger boats.

She didn't particularly care for the lifts on the buses, but if you have a second person, it can be much easier. Some of the drivers required that you back up onto the lift platform. I would take the controls and walk forward while backing it onto the platform. I could see how it was going, and this solved everything.

These vehicles are wonderful. Have a great trip!

Really? My grandmother professes her love for WDW every chance she gets... she says the worst parks for WC/ECV's is MK, due to an abundance of little ones always jumping out in front of you, or the moms with strollers :scared: DAK, DHS and EPCOT aren't nearly as bad, according to her. I agree though, the terrain is certainly no fun - especially in DAK! Yikes!

I think edcrbnsoul was referring more to the distances involved, than the behaviour of the crowds, but I may be wrong. For crowds, EPCOT is probably the easiest, as the paths are wide and the crowds less; it's only at particularly busy times (like park closing) that I ever have any issues at EPCOT.

As for the kids stepping out in front of you, I don't mind them too much. They're young, they don't know better, and you normally get some warning (e.g. you see them running and hear them shouting and laughing ;)). The ones that catch me are the adults who suddenly veer in front of you, or slowly drift. A couple of times, I've had a parent pull their toddler practically under my wheels! The kid was giving me "I'm sorry, please don't run me over" looks, while the parent was oblivious! :rotfl:

Anyway, that was completely :offtopic: so I'll leave you lovely people in peace now :happytv:
