Bring it with you and carry it proudly, I'd never let a few idiots from any group dictate how we all act. For the most part the people I have met during my stays at DVC resorts are extremly friendly and easy going. It's almost as though we are in some way connected when we meet at different places, even on the plane ride down or sitting in the airport. We take our chances and are happy with the rooms we get and expect no special favors other than those listed as perks. I have seen a few knuckleheads but they're are some in every group. The only thing we can do is try to be extra nice to the cm that has just put up with them. Take your bag and enjoy you first trip Welcome Home!!So does this mean it would be in my best interest NOT to bring that beautiful tote bag with me on my first trip home?
Don't take offense, MrsNick, I think Dis Fix was simply making a joke referencing the old stereotype of NYers being rude.![]()
the theme parks and resorts board don't like us as is - this type of situation only increases it.
if she is a DVC member why doesn't she have them stay at a DVC resort on her points.
something doesn't make sense.
how about a florida resident who promised to enable her relatives stay at Pop century - only to find it is booked.
which means they might be staying with her. Hey that would get yelling!
In NY the stereotype isn't rude it's normal. Similar to some Asians. I like my space, but in some countries, rubbing up against someone and packing a enclosed space to overflowing with people is considered normal. I guess it's all how you look at it.![]()
If someone acts up that badly, they should simply ask for their Memership Card to prove that they, indeed, are members.
Once they have the card the CM should say, "We will be shredding your card at the directions of DVC. They will send you your money back for your purchase of the timeshare and they do not want you to purchase ever again."
That ought to do it!![]()
So, if I'm understanding you correctly, in NY rudeness is the norm?
No... What I am saying is, what is perceived as rudeness by some people may be considered normal behavior by others. An example would be that in some cities honking your car horn is normal behavior, in my city, the Police would pull you over and ask why are you honking your horn.
True enough, especially if one is honking at the aggressive driver who just cut you off and missed you by a half inch![]()
Does anyone watch the TV show "Airline", either the US version or the GB version?
Maybe a new, similar, TV show titled "DVC Member".....![]()
I've seen that kind of thing happen at the parks as well-not with people specifically claiming DVC "rights" but their "rights" as people who "spent a lot of money to come here and we want to do X and you have no right to stop us from doing it!!" I think many times CM's pick their battles with these types of guests. I can understand not wanting to create a larger scene and a more irate guest, but the message they are inadvertantly sending is that having a tantrum will allow you to do whatever you want.
