How easy to rent banked points?

We are thinking seriously of adding on another 150 points. There is a resale in our UY at $81/point, with no points available till 9/06.

Couls also get these from DVC at $92/point with 150 points available immediately. We would not be able to use these points now, and are approaching the banking window in 1 month. If we were to rent these points, at $10/point the price is nearly the same as the resale, and wouldn't have to go through ROFR etc.

But how easy is it to rent banked points? I think I would have until 9/07 to rent them.

Banked points cannot be transferred to another member, so you will be making a reservation for someone and renting that.

Assuming you are willing to spend the time and effort, you should be able to find someone who wants to visit WDW before 8/31/2007. Since you have such a long time before the points expire, availability should not be a problem.

To minmize the chance of losing the points, my advice is to rent early in the use year - that way if you run into a problem, you'll have time to re-rent (if needed).

We have a March UY and in January '05, we bought 50 BWV points from Disney. We got the '04 points, but only had until the end of February to use them. I understand that sometime you can negotiate to have the points banked, (December 31 was the banking deadline) but we didn't know that.
