My family and I are planning on staying @ Pop for 5 days in January. After the 1st 5 days, we will be switching resorts and staying at Poly for the next 5 days after my in-laws come to town.

How easy is it to switch resorts? Exactly what does it entail? I am trying to plan a skeleton of my itinerary and don't know how to plan that day? Will Bell services take my luggage from one resort to another? Will this be 2 different reservations when it is finally completed? Do I need to get 2 5 days passes instead of a 10 day so that we can have the dining plan for all 10 days?

Sorry I know it's a lot of questions but I plan on booking this on Monday. I want to know what I am getting myself into before I do it. Thanks!!!!

Very easy pack your bags and call the bell hop, they will pick it up and transfer it to the new resort. Later after checking in the new resort, call and they will bring your bags to your room.

Are you saying a bell hop takes all your luggage and will transfer to the 2nd WDW resort while you go off to a park and it's hands off for you? THen when your done at the park you arrive at the new hotel say 6 or 7PM check in and they bring your luggage to your room?

Yes that's what I am saying, do it almost every trip I am DVC and stay on weekends a lot with my AP discount.

Curious, how does the AP help you with discounts on rooms if your using DVC and points to stay?

DVC seems interesting, but I don't like the idea of having to pay yearly fees of $hundreds on top of the DVC purchase.

As others have said, it is easy. Let luggage service handle the bag transfer. Staying at POP you may have to bring your bags to luggage service. I'm not sure if they pick it up from the room. We have resort switched but we always had a car and took our luggage ourselves.

You can then check in the new resort whenever you want and Poly will bring the luggage to your room when the room or you are ready. You will have two reservations. You do not have to get 2 sets of passes. You can get a 10 day pass and it will still be good 14 days after it's first use. The passes will still be linked to the key cards from your first resort. I am not sure if guest services can transfer them to your new room keys - you can ask. We just used our old room keys for parks.

Disney will transfer luggage from one resort to another. Make sure you do not need anything from your luggage as you will not get it until after 3pm or later.

Yes you will have to make two different reservations. You can do your tickets however you choose unless you are doing the Dining Plan.

Also if you are doing the dining plan you will have two seperate plans one for each reservation, not one continous one.

It can be easy if everything goes as planned. We don't do it anymore due to the fact that on the day you move you are paying full price for the room, but not getting it for the entire day and once we did not recieve our luggage until 6pm and we dining reservation and no clean clothes.

They meant they don't use thier DVC on weekend due to the higher points required for Friday and Saturday and booked a room with a the AP discount. But that discount is not always available.

Thanks so much for the info! I didn't want to have to schlep all my bags around myself. I'd rather spend the time waiting for the rest of the family in MK or something else.

You get more value with your points staying sunday thru thursday nights, weekend point values are high. We get up to 40 % discount with the AP. Also we enjoy staying at the other resorts.

Yes, they can transfer the passes to the new room keys, we did it in April. The lobby conceirge can do it after you check in. I'm not sure about the dining plan. I think you will need two sets of passes or at least a 1 day base ticket to get the dining plan for the 2nd room.
