How easy is it to get a taxi or Uber?

We will be going to WDW in August, and I'm a bit concerned about the heat. I'm wondering how easy it may be to get a cab to cut down on waiting and/or walking. Any info will be helpful! TIA!

Both are easy. But please tell us more about where you think you might need a taxi/uber to get to. If you are staying at a WDW resort, the bus service may be all you need.

We are staying at the Poly. I know I can take WDW transportation to everywhere I need to go, but from what I have read people have taken taxis instead to save time and hassle. An example would be AK. I would like to visit AKL after we go to AK. I know to get back I could take the bus from AKL to MK and then a boat to the Poly. What I'm wondering is, is it so easy to get a cab or Uber that it's worth using one of these instead of taking WDW transportation?

Thanks for the clarification. Yes, you can easily get a taxi at the Poly. You can also easily get Uber to pick you up there. Similarly, at Epcot, DHS or AK you can find taxi's, or the Uber pickup spot, outside the gates of the park.

In the case of going from AKL to the Poly, you're right that a taxi/uber would be a quicker way to go. Again, there's no problem getting a cab at AKL and Uber might be a short wait.

We use cabs at WDW a few times each visit. Most of the time when we walk out of a resort there are cabs already there. We hop in with little or no wait.

This is true for us, too. We also took a cab from Animal Kingdom and Hollywood Studios. Cabs are already there. I don't know if this will change when Disney Springs is completely done, but in November we took a cab from AK to DS. The drop off was near Cirque du Soleil. It was a long hike to Market Place where we wanted to be!

Cabs will now be a part of our trip budget - especially if we stay on the monorail again. While there is easy access to MK and Epcot, getting to HS and AK takes a LONG time including waits and stops at other resorts. The same is true for Boardwalk and getting to MK, AK and Disney springs.

Yes, this is VERY helpful. Thanks!

This is exactly what I wanted to know, thanks! So it looks like if a cab is not already there when we need one, we can just call for an Uber.

This is how we handle it: Walk out the main resort entrance toward the bell services folks that greet arrivals. Tell them you want a cab. Usually they will signal the next one to pull right up. If they need to call one, it's never been more than 5 min. They are arriving and departing all the time.

Personally, just call for Uber. It's so much cheaper. We had great success with it. We did exactly what you want to do too, from AKL to our Resort (BC in our case) because it was so much easier than dealing with a bus
