How easy is it to change dates on the reservation?

For example, if my reservation is Sept 3 to Sept 6 and I want to change it to Sept 1 to Sept 4...is it possible? will there be penalties?

In order to change a reservation, there has to be availability on the new dates. That availability check happens when you request the change. You can't assume that those new dates will be available just because they are open today.

If there is availability, the change isn't difficult. Any change penalties would be disclosed when the reservation. Generally, there is no penalty to change a room only or package reservation unless you purchase airfare through Disney.
