How easy are cash ressies to get along with points ressie? Can you link them?

When you stay on cash....how does that work with a points ressie? Does it cost more or less depending on day of week?

Depends on the cash reservation. If you make it through MS, it is linked and considered the same as a points reservation. If you make it through CRO, they can't be linked, you may have to move and you will have to check out and check back in.

Cash reservations - with the 25% DVC member discount - are not always available, but would be reserved thru MS. They can be linked to a point reservation by MS so you will not need to move.

The charge is based on the rack rate for the room for that date. The discount is applied to that rate and then the tax is computed on the net amount.

If you make a reservation thru CRO (they may have AP rates available that are even better than the 25% discount), they won't guarantee that the reservations will be linked, but will note the request. The resorts are usually pretty good about not making you change rooms, but you may need to check in a second time.

I would like to add - if the 25% discount is not available on the day you call. Try again in a couple of weeks. This has worked for me every time.

I do all the time. Example this coming trip - I have 2 - 2 BR at OKW sun-thur. Then I have 2 - 2BR the following week at HH Sun-thu. I do not have enough points to cover the weekends, so we have to decide what to do the weekend in between the 2 reservations. My nephews love animals so we may get 2 - 1 BR villas for cash at AKL - 2 BR were not available for cash when we called. Or we are thinking of staying right at OKW. Decisions, Decisions. I should just buy more points!!!! Wish I could.

Thanks everyone. I am going to see about doing this before I finalize plans.

Do people ever book sun-thur and pay cash thru ms for fri/sat?

I've done it in the past at OKW in May (1 bedroom). It was never a problem getting a cash res for Saturday and/or Sunday. It saved 48 points per night and at the time ran about $325 (this was about 4 years ago).

When and where do you want to stay? Be aware that some room types are not available for cash - BWV standard & boardwalk view, BCV 2 bedrooms w/2 queens.

Well that explains why the two times I have asked about cash at BCV they say no....and apparently they don't know about the two queen thing. I just called again and they have no regular cash available and no discounted cash rooms available. SO I could add on more weekend days at 75 a pop by borrowing those points ...those days on points were open. We arrive on a Friday the 25th and I am alreadying staying Friday and Sat. that weekend on high points so he said I could add on the days at the end but they are weekend days. Aug. 1st and 2nd. I wait listed Thursday Aug. 24th .. for 40 points. I can part with weekday points easier. If that day becomes available then we will have 8 days at BCV. I would like more though. :sad1: I should have just sucked it up when I made this ressie and let go of those points to start with.
