How early?

How early does a person need to make their reservations to get the resort they want? I called this evening to find out about availibility at the CSR from January 5th-8th, and was told that it was completely sold out.

Wow, that's sold out early! CSR is a convention hotel also, maybe there's something going on that weekend? Did you check availibility online? Sometimes there are rooms available online when not on the phone.

That's Marathon weekend, so that has a lot to do with it. We stayed at CSR for the 2004 marathon, and there were lots of runners there (it's relatively close to WWOS, where the registration takes place). Are you flexible by a day or two on either end of the trip?

Depends. I booked AKL with 3 months notice for my May trip, booked Pop with 2.5 months for my August trip. I just booked Boardwalk for Feb 06.

Alot depends on what is going on that week as far as conventions etc.

With a potential of up to 40,000 runners since they split races into two days. We went last year and most hotels were full. We made our reservations for this year months ago. Another factor may be that many southern school districts are out on vacation until the 9th or 10th, so am sure plenty like ourselves will be there from the 1st on till the 8th.......

If you only are going a weekend, I'd pick another. If you can go weekdays then head down the 9th when all the runners and their families are heading out. (8th pm is a big party for runners at PI so many stay over).

Unfortunately, I'm sort of tied to that weekend. It's my boyfriend's birthday, and he's announced that he wants to go back to WDW to celebrate. He wants to be at WDW on the 7th and get the birthday pin and generally act like he's turning 8 instead of 28.

He's said that he doesn't mind the idea of getting rooms at the Pop. If all else fails, there's offsite, but that's such a hassle. I like the idea of parking my vehicle and then not bothering with it.

Edit to add: I can't stay past the 9th, either, as classes start the 9th and my school has this policy about how if you miss the first day of class, you're dropped from it.

Can you stay elsewhere? If you aren't crazy about the values, what about a different mod?

Can you go the weekend before his birthday?

We'll probably end up at the Pop Century, to be honest. The All Stars are a bit too much for me, and the only mod left was POR--which is okay, I guess, I'm just not willing to pay as much for it as I was for CSR. As for the weekend before--that's December 31 and January 1st.
