How early is too early to book a trip?

Sooo I was PSYCHED to see that DW posted the free dining dates for 2011! DH and I were planning on going during the Aug 11 dates, but now we're thinking he'll have college orientation that week, which makes it a no-go. The only other free dining dates we'd be good for are May 27-Jun 2. This brings me to my question:

If we're planning on staying in a moderate resort (CSR), how early is too early (or how late is too late) to book it? Now seems a bit early....but would Nov. be too late? Last year, we went in Sept (DH missed school...BAD plan) and booked in June, but ik this year you have to book by Dec. 20, and I don't want to cut it that close again. Oh, to boot, we went during the food and wine fest...LOL no reservations for us!

The early bird does get the worm when it comes to booking and Disney. If you know for sure, go ahead and book. We just nailed down dates with DH's family for our trip next summer and our 11 month window is getting ready to open. (we're DVC members) and I WILL be calling that morning, first thing. We want a THV and we want to make sure we get it. Our motto is "It's never too early to book, unless Disney says so" We are always on at 180 days for our ADRs and we always book any "extras" (tours, party, F&W events) the minute we can. DH and I have been going for 11 years and we have definitely learned to book. It's easier to make changes rather than trying to get something that is already gone.

BOOK RESERVATIONS AS SOON AS YOU CAN!!! You can allways cancel, but you may not be able to get the reservation you want at a later date. ALSO: if you change you mind on a reservation be sure you make a new one before you cancel the old one.
