sorry if im reposting a question thats already here lol. overly excited. i was wondering how early everyone starts to pack ?
is now too soon? rofl.

OK, I would only admit this to my DIS family!(and mybe DH too!)
After our trip I keep the toiletry bag packed. I replenish what needs to be and keep that bag in the closet.(we go every year)
Throughout the year I'm always picking up things I think we'll need and stuff for the kiddies to do on the car ride. We go in Nov. so by Sept. I pack summer clothes we'll need for our trip. At about a month before I start "really" packing!!LOL
I actually love packing and planning as much as being on the trip!! It is/was hard on our last trip with DS who was 8mo. I had to plan so much and not forget the little things he needed. Diapers, formula, baby food, geez I don't know how I did it!

I keep my luggage packed (WDW is really all we need to pack for) with the light spinners, mini flashlights, cooling bandanas, mini toiletries, etc. Then I start making a list of what we'll need. I usually pack for myself and DD1, but buy new stuff for all of us. Last year I bought a bunch of matching t shirts for the 3 of us, which should still fit everyone. I will start planning our outfits around our character meal plans, if we are going to MNSSHP, etc. Last year, DD1 had more luggage than DH and I. She had about 7 different costumes, including the shoes and crowns. Only a few will be returning this year. As I remember things, I add them to the list. I also check prior years lists. I buy meal vouchers, gift certs, Ent book & make ressies months earlier, then add them to my list. All of this prep takes months to organize. Even after I'm done packing, I repack twelve times after buying new stuff. Its good to start early, because it gives you time to really think about what you'll need, instead of overpacking. Also, space bags are great!

IT IS NEVER!!!!!!!!! TO EARLY TO PACK I AM AT THIS SITE EACH AND EVERY DAY AND OUR TRIP IS NOT UNTIL DECEMBER

My toiletries are kept packed year-round (replenished after every trip) and I keep the bag in the linen closet so it is ALWAYS at the ready!
I get suitcases out about 1 month before we leave ( I keep them open in our guest room). I am in charge of packing for myself, 3 kids and of corse my husband (he would pack the night before if I left it up to him!!!)
The best tip I ever got was to use zip-loc bags for each outfit! I put a shrit, undies, socks, shorts, and hair ribbons, earrings, etc. that go with each outfit. In the a.m. the kids dress themselves in COORDINATING outfits and hair scrunchies and small items are not lost! The bags are cheap enough if you shop at ALDI or get them at the dollar store! ::MinnieMo

I was thinking the same thing, not going til April but want to pack now, which I will begin. When I put the clothes away (summer) I packed them away with the intention of packing them for the trip.

We have a toiletry bag and a medication bag that stays packed. Just add the toothbrush and a couple of other items before any trip. Otherwise, we don't pack our suitcases until a couple of days before a trip. We wait to see what the weather will likely be. And we don't have enough clothes to pack much before that without needing the clothes before we leave.

Just started packing ds clothes today. Used plastic baggies for each day like I read about on the families board. only two weeks til we are starting our drive. Can't wait.

My husband called me nuts today, because I am done packing for our trip. We leave in 9 days! :)

I figured it is cold here and we certainly won't be needing any of the warm weather clothes, so why not pack?!?

He still needs to finish his own packing, but only because he wants only certain shirts. He will be packing at 4 am the day we leave. Oh well, he's an adult. :teeth:

I am glad I started early, as I needed to wash the summer clothes that were in the garage being stored. I know they were clean when I put them in there, but still thought they needed washed after being in a rubbermaid tote for 6 months.

Also by packing early, I was able to see what the kids had outgrown and purchase anything new that was needed. My youngest child had grown quite a bit!

One more advantage to packing early... I was able to convince my husband to replace our green luggage with some awesome new bright red luggage. :)

Disadvantage ~ Everyday I am looking at the luggage in the dining room and I want to leave NOW!!!! ;)

whew glad i wasn't the only one that was more than ready to start packing . it is so much fun getting things together:bounce:

I've started shopping in the last few weeks. I've bought quite a few new clothing items for each family member. However, I will actually not physically put anything in a suitcase until a day or so before we leave. I have this weird thing where I don't like the clothes sitting in the suitcases for long beforehand. I know it's really no different than the storage bins they are in now, but I just can't stand it. I don't know whats up with that. I have begun looking through what we do have. I am mentally packed, just not physically.

Add me to the "I'd pack now" list....but our trip isn't until May. I still need to go through my kids summer clothes and see what fits and what doesn't from last year. (Need to do that for my own clothes too;) )

Once I get the clothing situated, then it's going right into the suitcases!

I'm so excited I can hardly stand it!

I started packing about 4 weeks ago. I bought new luggage for me and our 3 boys and just need to purchase my husband's. I also started buying clothes that I've been finding on sale. As I buy the items, I take the tags off and place them in large Ziplock bags and place them inside the luggage. I love the Ziplock bag idea. I was able to fit 9 tees/tanks of mine and 3 of my sons tees all in one bag! I've also started purchasing sundries and OTC meds and I've placed those inside my carry on. If you look at my counter you'll see we still have 6 months go. Am I anxious or what?:hyper:

We leave next Tuesday morning and the only suitcase to make it out yet was DD (9). I will do my packing over the weekend. I don't want these things sitting around taking up room! Not like we have room to spare!! I have been "gathering" items together. The other night I could not sleep after waking up at 3:10 so I got on the laptop and made a big list of things not to forget--goggles, swimmees, autograph books, ponchos, etc. There are about 40 things on this list and a previous post reminded me to pack spinner lights.
