We will be staying offsite our first night at Doubletree and want to get an early start on Sunday. How early can we check in at OKW? Should we go to the parks first and check in later?

You can check in at any time, however your room may not be available until the afternoon.

You can check in any time - we've done it as early as 7:30 a.m. Your room may or may not be ready, but they'll go ahead and issue you your card keys, but without telling you what room they'll be for. They'll give you a phone number to call, you'll go on ahead to the parks (leaving your luggage with Bell Services if you like), and when you call the number later, they'll tell you if you're room's ready or not. When it is, they'll let you know over the phone what your room number is, and your key card will be activated at that time. There won't be any need to go back by the front desk - just go straight to your room whenever you're ready.

:bitelip: You can pretty much check in at any time- whether they'll have a room or not is the question.

I usually advise reservations that we'll be there fairly early, and then check in. I tell them to meet our requests if possible, as we aren't in a hurry to get to the room (non-smoking, king if possible). They will tell us what room they expect, and when they expect it to be ready. They hold your bags. We go off to the parks, stop by the front desk to pick up our room key and bags that night, and boom, we are all set.

I saw that the previous poster got keys, but not a room assignment, so I guess everyone has different experiences. That was ours.

Thanks everyone. Is Sunday typically a busy day for checking in? I've heard some days are worse than others.

If you're getting there first thing in the morning, you're not going to have much competition for checking in, no matter what day it is. It's possible you might deal with a lot of people checking out, but usually that happens a little later, too. The biggest checking in problem these days is getting there right behind a busload of Magical Express people. That happened to me at POR in October, and I waited about 25 minutes in line to check in. In your situation, I'm guessing you'll have a quick and easy time.
