How early before your FP time can you get onto the line?

I remember on our first trip we could go up and scan our bands and get onto a line a little bit earlier than our scheduled time. I can't really remember how much early we were able to do it. Does anyone know of an actual amount of time? Like 5 or 10 minutes or something?

It's 5 minutes with some leeway given if it's almost 5 minutes.
