IF Michael Brown was going for the gun, and the officer felt threatened, then he had every right to shoot and defend himself.

I'm curious how he managed to get 35' from the officer following the assault, yet was still facing him. That doesn't add up. One side or the other (perhaps both) have some explaning to do.

Will be interesting to see just how much gap there really was when the fatal shots were fired.

The video released today really gives the officers story of a fight before the shooting some serious credibility. The video clearly shows Michael Brown reacted aggressively to get away from the clerk just 10 minutes before he supposedly reacted aggressively and fought to escape the officer.

The officer might not have known he was dealing with a suspect in a robbery but Brown must have thought he did when the police stopped him 10 minutes later and I'm sure it influenced how he reacted.

I'm looking forward to more details coming out because the story is certainly starting to make more sense than the original story of an innocent kid walking down the street being gunned down for jaywalking by a racist cop.

I agree, I want to hear the rest of the facts. But it won't matter to the people of Ferguson - they've made up their minds it was racial profiling followed by cold blooded murder, and if there video showing otherwise, they would claim it was doctored.

They aren't interested in the truth, they're interested in revenge.

I think the 35' has been basically corroborated by police. He was supposedly running and had turned around with hands up to surrender.

This is pure speculation but if he was shot during the struggle in the police car he could easily run 35 feet before finally realizing it, people are often shot and don't realize it due to the adrenaline, once he realized he was shot and needed medical attention he could have turned around to surrender.

Theory 2 is he ran from the officer and the officer pursued, he either turned around to surrender or fight and the officer shot him.

I have no proof of either theory but they'd both make more sense to me than any of the reports that he turned around to surrender, put his arms in the air and was shot execution style.

Heck, our military members are taught that same thing, how to disarm someone without using lethal force. He's trying his best to get the riots started again...I saw him on MNSBC this morning, he was saying that the violence might not be over. He says that when the thug's friends see him in the casket, it could well ignite violence again.

This was a HUGE man though, look at the video from the store, he towered over the clerk and was close to 300lbs.

Very few people can subdue a strong 300lb person without help.

Everything is not black and white. Of course police can protect themselves. But I have serious issues when they are using lethal force on someone who is unarmed. I don't really care what the person's history is, how much of a "thug" they are, or so on. Deadly force should be the absolutely last resort. The officer should feel that his or her life itself is in danger, not just annoyed that someone is physically resisting. We are talking about people's lives here. Maybe to some people not all lives are worth the same. Maybe if you have a criminal history, or are black, or poor your life is more disposable than others. I just don't feel that way.
