How does vandalism and looting accomplish anything???

I think, the media coverage...or lack of....played a big part in the protester's behavior (particularly when the murder occurred). We (American's) have wall to wall coverage. Now, add the "experts", who throw fuel on the fire. Whether, it's to further an agenda or drive ratings...it definitely escalates the situation.

AGREED.

We need to focus on the true matter at home, why does a woman have to bury her son?

:thumbsup2 Unfortunately the news, politicians, and those with personal agendas will do everything possible to escalate situations like this for ratings, votes, and money. They don't care about the people hurt in the process, they just see dollar signs.

I say again, why do the protests continue?

No name released of officer. No arrest of officer. No charge if murder. No guilty plea. No prosecution. No judge finding him guilty yesterday.

It is what is wanted whether just or not and until it happens...protests.

1. Officer's life threatened by hooligans.
2. Investigation ongoing by outside agencies. No street justice allowed, unfortunately for some.
3. Investigation ongoing.
4. Investigation ongoing.
5. Investigation ongoing.
6. Investigation ongoing.
7. You found him guilty yesterday.

Oops, I called someone hooligans. Please forgive me. I should be more understanding.

Go back earlier in this thread, and you will see where some posters admit they teach their kids early to not trust the police (as a whole). Teaching your kids to disrespect law enforcement leads to things like you see happening now.
Sure, in the past there was mistreatment, but it is better now, whether folks admit it or not.

On the other hand you will also see posters saying how to deal with police and it's described in a submissive way... Hands up.. No questions.. Yes sir/ma'am... No sudden movements. That's also teaching children to fear the police. Teaching children to expect the police to abuse their power and act like little submissive robots is not much better.

Aw, Sunshinehighway, just when I thought you and I were becoming bff.

That is exactly what you should do (and what all the witnesses say the deceased was doing). (Officer had facial injuries). You have to work with the authorities, and if mistreatment occurs, report it. Otherwise, if you completely disrespect them, you have ANARCHY.
Bet you if someone was chasing these same witnesses around with a gun, they would have called the police for help.

I hope this was in jest. They weren't my thoughts but my opinion of what they are thinking. And investigation doesn't satisfy when they think I the system is corrupt and against them.

I recall George Zimmerman and Trayvon Martin. Only a guilty plea would do. Anything less was not just.

But I do feel the same way about Casey Anthony.

OK, I feel better now - I took it the way you meant it!

Sorry, sometimes hard to get people's context on the boards.

I was responding from their POV and NOT my personal beliefs. Way back when Casey was out---protestors were in front of her home until she was finally arrested and had to stay in jail. No different really though less violent. But I did and still do believe she is guilty of murder.

You do have to work with them but that's not what was described earlier. There is a difference between showing respect for an officer and respect for the law and total unquestioning obedience. That is what posters were describing. If you actually think about it, they are saying the same thing about police as people who are on the other side and say they don't trust the police. Both expect an abuse of power, they just handle it in different ways.

You may believe she was guilty of murder, but she was not. Now if you mean you still believe she committed murder that's a different story.

Why all the bleeding hearts for the looters? This is what's wrong with America today, people get away with everything. See someone looting, shoot them on the spot, and not with rubber bullets. See how quick the nonsense stops then.

So, essentially, we're advocating the death penalty without the due process of a trial? Good to know that human life means so much.

If it's publicized that looters will be shot on sight, and they choose to loot, it's not the death penalty so much as it's suicide.

Act like an animal, die like an animal.

. ;-). She was found not guilty in a court of law. That is not synonymous with innocent. I can still believe she is guilty since she is not innocent.

And my heart is not bleeding for the looters.

Too bad that the governor has decided to give in to the looters. He's bringing in state troopers for a kinder, gentler touch.
