New to this, so a little confused. Let's say I have 150 pts with a Feb use year at SSR. I also have 150 points with a March use year at BWV.

So, I want to have a 1 bedroom at BWV for an April visit. Let's say this will cost me 270 points. I know the 150 pts for BWV can be used for my ressie at the 11 month window. Do I then have to borrow next years points from my BWV allocation to finish off my ressie, or can I just combine my current SSR points to make a total of 300.

I just don't get how to make this kind a ressie. OK, now baby steps with me.::yes::

The points only have the 11 month advantage at the home resort. The only way you could use 270 points prior to the 7 month window at BWV is to bank or borrow points from your "BWV account". At the 7 month mark, you can combine points.

If you didn't want to bank and borrow, you could book as many nights as possible with your 150 points at BWV. You could then book the remaining nights at SSR as a "backup". At the 7 month mark, you call to book the missing rooms at BWV and can cancel the SSR reservation to free up the points. You could also skip booking the "back up" and just take your chances the missing nights would be available or would come though on the wait list.

There are also some subtleties to using two different Use Years. I haven't got that problem so I can't fill you in on the details. I think sometimes you have to transfer points in order to use points from two different Use Years to book a single night.

IMHO, this isn't worth worrying about as long as the contracts are owned by the same person(s). MS will just take care of it for you.

I agree with Carol, that MS will usually take care of it as long as you are within the 7 month window or the same resort. I disagree that it's always seamless. It can be a chore to get them to be flexible in this area because they read the rules and can't think outside the box. While it's always worked out for me, I've had to put preasure on them more than once and pull out my email from them from the time when I was contemplating a second membership and I asked this question up front. The gist of the info was that they handled these issues on a case by case basis but had "signficiant flexibility when working with multiple contracts of a single owner". In reality this means they can transfer banked and borrowed points when the need is obvious but not on a whim. Usual situations include booking a single night with points from multiple ccontracts and the situations where all the points must be in one account like the HAL cruise, I'm not sure if the DCL cruise, DD and CC are set up the same way as we were specifically discussing the HAL at the time.

They will not use this method to bypass the 11 month priority though there is currently a loop hole that might allow one to use points from other resorts at the 11 month window in some cases.
