How does the water taste?

We have not stayed in the villas yet but our trip at BVC is coming up! We have been drinking bottled water on our previous trips to Disney because years ago the water at Disney had a funny after taste (noticed it when we asked for a glass of ice water from the counter service restaurants). So, I was wondering if the DVC villas have filtered water or does Disney's water still have an after taste? Thanks!

We do use the water for coffee (sometimes). We usually buy small bottlles to talke with us and gallons of water for the room.

disney has always had the worst water, I think it's because they recycle it, but I have found the best way to not have to buy bottled water. Go to your supermarket and find the britta travel bottle, it takes away the bad taste and smell instantly, best investment we ever made, and the little filter will process up to (i think) 20 or 30 gallons, worth the money!::yes::

I travel for a living, and I hesitate to even brush my teeth in hotel water. I am the king of bottled water.
That being said, if there was anyplace I would be comfortable with the tap water, that place would be Disney.
Yes, totally psychological, but in my mind everything seems a little better at Disney... ;)

Here's what we do to take advantage of the freezer:

Empty half of the bottled water out, then put the remainder in the freezer before you go to bed (it will expand a little). In the morning, take another bottle and fill up the rest of the frozen bottle and you'll have cold water all day at the parks. Then freeze that half full bottle the following night.

We always use bottled water, not only due to the intestinal problems that we seem to have in Florida, but the water from the tap is always WARM. Yuck!

We've lived in both Vero Beach and New Smyrna Beach, and "Florida water", as we called it, just had that vaguely ironish-sulfurous taste, even tho it's pure.

Ditto on the little Brita H2O bottles. Works great.

Get a Pur or Britta water filter that attaches to the kitchen facet. It's smaller to carry and cheaper overall. It's not difficult at all to remove the screen from the facet.

Please do remember to put the screen back in the faucet afterwards. There have been a couple of posts about missing faucet parts.

Despite my griping, the Brita tip is a good one.

Thanks everyone for your imput. Glad it wasn't just us who thought the water at Disney tasted a little off. I like the idea of the Brita travel bottle. I will look for one. We have been doing the half water bottle in the freezer routine for the last two trips which works great, but you eventually run out (we drink a LOT of water) and have to purchase more bottled water inside the parks. Thanks again!

I'm a tap water person under normal circumstances. Bottled water is good for portability, but I don't drink it for flavor. That said, the water at Disney is the nastiest water I've ever tasted. Horrible aftertaste. BLAH!

Hey, don't pick on just Disney. It is all the Orlando area that has bad tasting and smelling water. Probably all of Florida, who knows. Plus, I agree with someone else who said it is always WARM.
The only good thing about winter in Pennsylvania is the cold water, October to May!

I agree with AJKMOM.

I used to travel to Florida a lot for work or vacation and noticed that there was always this sulfur smell from the water. Particularly in the shower. So, I don't blame Disney.

Gilclan...I agree!!

The Britta Fill & Go water bottle is just great. It has a replaceable filter in the bottle. I believe its good for about 50 or 70 gal of H2O before replacement of the filter is necessary.
I have seen it in Walmart, Target for about $6-7.

We always get bottled water to carry in the parks, but have started to get extra water to make coffee in the villas because the coffee always had a strange taste to me. My DH says it's me, but the coffee with the bottled water is better - not perfect, but better!

I don't know if any of you have had it, but we've had the stomach flu TWICE this year. My hubby mentioned it the other day to someone who works in the ER and they said they heard the CDC were looking into this being the Norfolk virus? What is it that the cruise ships have had? Anyway, the belief is it is being put into our water supply. The area where I live has had a time with it. YUCK! We now use bottled water at home in the jugs that are delivered, maybe we'll start using bottled water while elsewhere, too. Personally, I can tats the difference.

We always take two cases of bottled water with us whenever we go to Orlando. Two years ago, we didn't bring as much and dh drank the water there. He had Montezuma's revenge after that. He couldn't get on any of the rides for fear of well you know. We accidently brought a bottle of the water home because after we finished with the regular bottled water we would go to the drinking fountains and refill it. DH opened it up to dump it out before putting the bottle in the recycling bin, and he told me it smelled like the creek water he used to play in as a child. Ewwww! So now we always bring more than enough water.

I've never had any stomach problems. I usually have a glass of water at night and will drink the water from the water fountains (drinking) in the parks.

I do agree on the smell, but have smelled similar in Tampa, Ft. Lauderdale, Orlando (outside the park) and Daytona.
