How does the Quarrantine actually work for DVC members from New York?

SO how does Orange County expect to encourage tourism? Thats all we hear on television both nationally and locally is the need to open up businesses? How do you open businesses if there is a mandatory 14 day quarantine flying into Florida from NY, NJ, and CT then a mandatory 14 day quarantine flying back from Fl to those 3 states? Who has 28 days for quarantine in addition to your vacation? Doesn't seem feasible!

Maybe they're starting to realize that encouraging tourism is premature.

During Lamont’s daily briefing, someone on the team indicated they will review the list and criteria weekly. Also said if you have a negative test within 72 hours of entering the state, you do not need to quarantine.

this may have sealed my fate for Aug 31 trip.....
Here are the states - from FOX news

New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo, Connecticut Gov. Ned Lamont and New Jersey Gov. Phil Murphy in a virtual joint-press conference Wednesday announced a joint travel advisory, which will go into effect at midnight, that will require individuals traveling from states including Arkansas, Alabama, Arizona, South Carolina, Texas, Florida, North Carolina, Utah and Washington to quarantine for 14 days.

it's going to affect a lot of people. No SC/NC beaches either. Or to see grandparents in those areas.

It looks like generally (and we can confirm this when the actual rules are released) they're evaluating states on a rolling basis. So if cases go down, states will be removed from the list.

I don't have anything planned until September, so my opinion is biased by that delay. But if cases kept climbing in FL, I was going to cancel anyway. I love the parks - as we all do - but it's not worth the risk, especially if the risk keeps growing.

"Cuomo was asked directly if the restrictions apply to those from the tri state area traveling to or vacationing in any of the States on the list.. His reply was a simple hard “yes”"

Perhaps. Heard on local news last night that Governor DeSantis received phone calls from some hotel employees including Disney that they are afraid of returning to work with rising numbers

so far it states residents from those states coming to us...does not specify if you are from NY NJ and CT and go there if you have to quarantine upon return
During the Cuomo press conference this morning, he was asked if NYers returning from any of the affected states will be required to quarantine - his answer was yes. Was towards the end of the conference in case you want to watch - its on youtube.

So as of midnight tonight, if I live in Fl (or the other 8 states) and want to go to NY (or if I lived in NY and want to go to FL), I would have to add 28 days of quarantine (14 days upon entering either state and 14 days upon returning home).

I dont blame NY/NY/CT for implementing this - but who is going to be able to travel to these places in the near future?

A CM posted a public plea on Facebook for guests to behave, because the CMs know guests don't treat them well at the best of times. And apparently the person who spit on a CM at Springs was just escorted off, no ban.

That post was absolutely gut wrenching - my heart goes out to all the CMs who are just trying to stay safe & survive

Gov Murphy from NJ just said in his PC that constitutionally he cannot stop people from traveling state to state but he is strongly advising that you quarantine for the 14 days. Take that for what it is worth. Who knows at this point

Regardless of where you are traveling to/from it appears that traveling is a bad idea right now. I love Disney and have canceled my fair share of reservations since this all started but I would not risk my health or my family's health to go anywhere. Our health is much more valuable than my DVC points or AP passes.

Well, whether Gov. Murphy says it's mandatory in NJ or not, I know my employer will insist on a 2 week quarantine when I get back from vacation. That was the final straw for my August trip. Just called and was able to re-book for November. Shorter trip in a 1-bed but still at BWV... and saved a few points which I could bank. Already redid my park passes and flights... but geez Louise! Please let this trip happen!

BTW, waited 45 minutes on the phone... transferred points involved so I couldn't do it online. Had the nicest CM who could not have been more helpful. I don't envy his job right now!

I bet the phone CMs are happy right now that they aren't the front line CMs.

I'll always remember a job interview I did. Our team did a lot of phone work. This gentleman was also a roller derby referee. I asked him how his other work and life experiences prepared him for dealing with angry clients on the other end of the phone line. He used roller derby and said the great thing about phones is no one can punch you through a phone, unlike derby.

(Yeah, I hired him. He was one of my star performers, too, because personality matters a lot on phones.)

FL positive rate yesterday was 9.55. Under 10% 7 day rolling average and the restriction from the tri state is lifted

I find this interesting, there seems to be a lot of things Phil is doing that aren't constitutional but he's doing it anyway...
