How does Teppanyaki work with the DDP?

Does each person order a their own meal or combo, or does the family all get the same thing, family style? Are you allowed to get the combos on the plan, just not the lobster combo? I'm thinking that if everyone has there own separate meals, I would share with DD3. No way she's going to eat her own meal there-she used to be a big eater, but now she can just eat chicken soup and be full. Are the portions large there?

DH and I ate there on the free dining plan last year...he had a sushi appetizer, I had a salad...we both ordered one of the combos...and then we both had ice cream for dessert. I don't know remember how large the portions were, but I do remember leaving there feeling pretty full!

From what I've read, Japan has become the most restrictive with the meal plan. Your appetizer is soup or salad, entree does not include lobster & dessert is only ice cream.

While this was a very entertaining place - it was the one were were the least satisfied with. We did leave there hungry as we are not huge sushi people and DD6 did not like the soup. We were able to get the combo lobster meal and desert was a single scoop of chocolate ice cream. It was still good - we were not hungry when we left - but we were hungry later....ate our desert that was left over from our lunch!!! The dining plan is awesome!!!!

I am confused on this one! My DH is Korean, and my DS born in Hawaii, so please understand we are big rice/Japanese/Korean eaters. BTW, I'm a boring white girl from the midwest, but I digress... We love the CS place in Japan, and I even have been known to order from the kids' menu (I'm not a big eater anyway and it's cheap). And also DS9 is milk/egg anaphlyalctic allergic, so can't eat at Mitsukoshi unless he just has rice and miso soup (they use margarine on the grill that has dairy and egg on the grill also) so if we eat there, I'll just pay for him to eat that. I saw their menu on the DIS boards, and they list some sushi appetizers (My DD7 would LOVE!).

Q: Anyone recently been there on the dining plan allowed this?

I've been there many times in the lounge just to have some sushi and a beverage with DH (who reluctantly joins me as few days as possible on trips to WDW) and the waitresses aren't so helpful at all. So I kind of expect that - they're not really FRIENDLY but that's fine. I'm just wondering what they'll do if I show up and order a sushi appetizer?

Thanks in advance! Thinking about an additional trip (sans DH, God love him but he can't possibly stand TOO MUCH DISNEY). But the free dining and all, how can you resist?
