How does Radiator Springs Racers work with a large group?

We plan to do RSR, and there is 7 of us. I know that the cars hold 6, so they will probably split us up into groups of 3 and 4....surely they wouldn't do 6 and 1.

Anyway, do they try to set it up so that groups are racing each other? Or do we need to specifically ask the cast member if it's possible?

It’s best to tell the CM there’s 7 of you, but you’d like to be split 4-3 in tandem with vehicles that will race each other.

We just went with a party of 7 and they suggested 4/3 but we requested 6/1 because I didn’t mind going by myself and they were fine with that. We didn’t end up racing each other but didn’t think to ask for it either.

They don't pay attention to which cars are racing each other. If you have a request, ask the CM when you get to the front of the line.
