How does Mickey's Very Merry Christmas Party work?

Do they empty the park at a certain time and only let back in those who purchased this, or is a certain part of the park limited access during this event? We will be there Nov 29th through December 6th during which this event apparently will be going on the 30th, 2nd, 4th, and 5th (listed on Disneyland website as 7 p.m. to midnight even though the 2nd and the 4th park schedule says the park closes at 8). Just wondering as I have no idea how these events will affect our trip. Any info would be greatly appreciated!

I'm confused.

DLR does not have a Mickey's Very Mery Christmas Party.

Maybe you are referring to either the Cast Member parties or the Candlelight Processional????
