I want to get the memory maker package, but we are staying off site and wont have magic bands. What do we need to give the photographer to scan then if we dont have the bands? Thanks!

Just give them your ticket card. It'll do the same thing.

Just a piece of advice, you may want to get a magic band, even if you're staying off site. We always stay off site, but love the magic band. It just makes getting into the park, using our FP+, PhotoPass so much easier. Or, if nothing else, just have one member of your party get one. That way, they can use it for photo scanning.

One thing to note, on 7DMT you can only get the on-ride photo/video from the long-range RFID contained in a Magic Band. If you are using a card the system will not detect you and unlike other rides there is no post-ride tap point to save a photo to your Memory Maker. As far as I knpw 7DMT is the only ride that does it this way. Other rides have tap-points at the end, but if you have a Magic Band, then you will not have to stop at them as your photos will be automatically added using the long-range RFID, so it may be a good idea to have at least one MB in your party.

Good point Brian. The RFID is also used at the end of Small World to say Goodbye to you personally, as well as at the end of Haunted Mansion with the hitch hikers.

Tower of Terror has a video and FEA has a photo that I never saw any monitors to tap (in addition to the previously mentioned 7DMT). We stayed off site and got bands, I absolutely adore the 7DMT videos!!! We made them into a souvenir by having the character(s) on our bands autograph them.

yup - its best to at least have one magic band for the long range RFID stuff - its easier to use than the ticket cards, personally

Oh, I didn't realize that FEA had an on-ride photo. ToT used to have monitors (maybe not tap points), but I think they took them out for the now scrapped bar they were going to put in. You could always get the photo added by stopping at the photo counter though (where you would go to purchase them) at ToT. 7DMT does not empty into a gift shop at all and there is not counter or anything. I am not sure if it could be done at FEA.

You can buy them at just about any gift shop in the parks, at Disney Springs, or at disneystore.com. The plain solid color ones are only about $13. There are also many different options for characters and designs, which vary in cost.

I'm not sure if its clear from the discussion above - if you want ride photos and do not have a magic band, you need to tap/scan your ticket card at the photo viewing stations at the end of the rides. As mentioned, you could choose to buy a magic band and that would happen automatically, without you having to stop (although some people with magic bands choose to stop and scan any way just to be sure). Only 7dwarfs and maybe now Frozen, have no way of scanning a card so you would not be able to get a ride photo there without a magic band.

I agree with PP it's worth getting MBs. Depending on party size also consider one night in a value, you get magic bands, parking for one day. EMH if is going.

Yep. Trust me, you will have zero problems finding a spot to buy Magic Bands. If you don't buy them before you go, pretty much every store and kiosk in Disney sells them. Cast members can help you link them to your ticket. It's $13 well spent.
