How does Disney decide who gets codes?

Just curious if there are any CMs or others out there who have ideas about how they target code-worthy guests? Since the 40% discount pins were released, I have been calling every few days to see if one appears on our file...no PIN. :sad2:

It seems our family would be a perfect target, since we go every other year during value season and went last year...if we had a great discount, we'd find a way to go this year, and that would be another room filled. Win/win for us AND Disney.

Congratulations for those out there who received and are able to take advantage of the targeted discounts. :) Any idea how? Why, oh why not us?

I was told it was purely random. We have been every year since 2002, and I've been at least three or four times before I got married. We got a PIN code a couple of years ago, but that was the only time.

My parents haven't been since 1988 and they have gotten two or three emails/postcards.

I work with a lady who goes twice a year, and she's never gotten one at all.

Go figure.

I can't get over this 40% postcard issue. I know I should let it go but in regards to what OP said...it doesn't really seem fair to me when we go every year! I was wondering if someone could tell me what the postcard looks like too.
I still haven't called to see yet if there is a pin attached to our name. That would be my next step.
I DID receive a discount pin for the campgrounds??????:confused3

I think they target people who DONT GO often. We have been lucky enough to be able to go once a year for the past 3 years. We have never gottne a postcard, email or any pin attached to our name. We have never recieved anything like that. I think it is because WE DO GO and they know we probably will go again. I can't wait to see if my MIL gets anything next year. We took her with us this year and I know for a fact she will NEVER EVER GO AGAIN!!!!!! She hated the crowds, the climate (we were there in Dec and it was warm one day cold the next) the rushing, the airplane and airport on a holiday etc. I bet she gets 100s of codes and offers.......oh well.

I also believe that those getting the codes don't go often or at all . . . My mother always gets the postcards, and she had never been. She made reservations once and had to cancel them, so she is in their computer. When I heard about the 40%, I called right away and I came up with nothing. Then I asked them to look for my mother, and surprise! surprise! She was offered 40%, translating into a room at POP for $56 a night in September.

Mayb they already know I am hooked. . . but if i dont get the 40% eventually, or free dining in the fall, I might not be able to convince DH to go.

That's just it...we always splurdge and stay at GF...well.... we can't do that EVERY time but if they offered me 40% off how could I refuse!!!! In 2003 we got a AWESOME deal because of 9/11 so that's how we stayed there then, 2004 there was another deal open to everyone but after that NOTHING!

I thought I read that people who did go all the time were getting the cards too. I could be wrong but I thought that's what I read at another thread.

I still better call and I'll let you guys know what they say about my family.

I just got a postcard at home and it was in my maiden name (I checked in with that name during my honeymoon in 95, every trip since then has been my married name). The code is for May and June, but are are going on the bounceback program in August. I last got a postcard in my maiden name and used the offer in 2003. I was allowed to use the code, since my current address was correct.

I have never gotten a code/postacrd in my married name, and since that honeymoon we have gone 13 times.

It looks to me like they are trying to get guests to come back.

VERY
interesting!!!

I have to agree that's it's probably folks who don't go so much. I live in NJ and we've been going to Disney 2 or 3 times a year since 1986. Sadly we've never gotten a postcard!

Not to blow holes in your theory but we have been to WDW 15+ in the past 10 years andI have received several code offers in the past 2 years.

In fact we are booked at AKL in Oct on the 40% discount...

Doesn't make much sense does it?

But I thought you said you didn't have the code?

Aren't you afraid to admit that!:scared1:
Aren't you afraid we are going to find you in a dark alley and jump you for your postcard pin number!!!!:rotfl2:

BTW.... Do you know what the postcard looks like for the 40%??

with all our addresses on it and someone from WDW corporate throws a dart at it and where it lands is where the postcard/code goes...any other ideas????

PROBABLY!! I think it is that random!!!!

Random selection, geographic selection, and yes selection of those that have not visited recently.

I hate to admit it but I am REALLY jealous. I just feel like if you spend ALL that money there year after year (at WDW that is) you deserve a deal. I feel like you should be rewarded for being loyal!!!
Oh well! OBVIOUSLY, I am not the only one upset about this either from how heated all the threads get discussing this but I promise not to take out my jealousy on those of you who received the discount (unless you start bragging or gloating or something mean like that!)
Have a magical day:wizard: !

I have NEVER gotten a code. And I RARELY stay onsite! I should be the perfect candidate!

BTW, for those of you that have the 40% attached to your name...can you also get the FREE DINING with that or is the 40% off for room only?

But I thought you said you didn't have the code?

I did not get the email about it because they had my email address messed up. But the code was attached to my name in the system....
