I was just wondering how everyone else organizes their WDW scrapbooks. Do you do them by day or by park? I am just looking for some "fresh" ideas for our upcoming trip. Any and all suggestions are welcome. Thanks.

I usually do it by day, but I don't say "Day 1, Day 2..."

We just came back and I had great idea done there. I asked everyone what there 5 favorite things at WDW were. I wrote them down and then took pictures of the attraction or the person doing it. Mickey Bar's were on DD"s list so I took a picture of her eating one. When I scrap the trip I plan on doing 5 pages of our favorites. I thought it would be interesting to see if there favorites change in a couple years.

Every day on the trip I buy a postcard and on the back make notes about what we did all day. I use that to write my trip report when I get home, then use the trip report as my journalling in the scrapbook. I just cut and past it into text boxes for my layouts!

I have decided, though to do an ABC book for my neice's bday in Sept using all Disney stuff...

I'm mostly a Day 1, Day 2 person too.

Me, too!!!

I usually do mine day by day, too, but I've also never been to any of the parks more than once in a trip. :guilty:

We generally split the parks up. For instance head to an earlier opener in the morning, back to the hotel for a break mid-day and then one NOT an earlier opener for the late afternoon evening. Which usually finds us in at least Magic Kingdom and Epcot more than once. I've done chronological and by park. Depended on the mood I was in when I scrapped I think. I've also grouped things like eating, characters, etc.

I also do it by day but then it gets grouped by park (ie all my misc Studios pictures will go with the biggest studio section whether they were actually taken on that day (so I don't have a dozen or so random pictures on their own layout.. books *&%$% enough as is..) ie all the Flower and Garden pics are togeather even though it was over 3 days I took the pictures

my recent album goes:

Getting There
First night dinner at WC
Resort
Monorail pics
MK
AK
EPCOT
MGM
leaving for cruise

i have one last page at the end and i'm going to do a "TOP 10 THINGS WE LOVED" kinda page

We've been to WDW only one time (last year) and I did everything day by day---which is how I do pretty much all my albums. I'm kinda weird about that.....want things done as they happen not clustered together. Now, if I was lucky enough to get to go to Disney at least once a year or every other year, I might do it a different way but right now, this works for me!
Thanks for the great thread..........good to see how everyone else does their albums.

thanks for the ideas ladies. i will definitely have to incorporate our "favorites" into pages. love that idea. :flower:

I love the favorites idea as well. I am currently finishing the last pages of my 11/04 trip, and I was going to add each of our favorite things on the last page.

I usually separate my books by park. For my last trip, I printed 500 photos, so it's actually turning into four full scrapbooks. I don't plan on doing this again!!! I typically separate by park (and do a park intro page for each), and I also do a resort section, and an others section (DTD, Water parks, etc.).

Group by park or activity...I journal a lot so I can remember what we did what day (since the pages aren't chronological). My last album I did it by hotel/MK/Epcot/AK/MGM/Typhoon Lagoon/Restaurant memories (like Ohana, Whispering Canyon) and then I had a "Mouse-a-llaneous" page for the random photos that didn't quite fit anywhere. I ended the album with a picture of my boys asleep, cuddled up in bed together. (awwww).

I like the "favorites" idea too. I'd like to try that out for our next trip. Hope I can get my stuff super organized before I go so that when I come back it will be easier to put together. I'm so overwhelmed with my last two trips, and I'm just starting in scrapping, so I'm trying to learn lots of lessons from everyone here.

I too LOVE this idea!!! :lovestruc I am very anal about my books being in chronological order. I have pictures of the same day and my book goes: MK...Monorail...Epcot...Monorail...MK. :moped: I would love to be able to do one by park, attraction, etc. I just can't break the sequence of events.

I have 3 WDW albums so far and they are all different. The first was day by day, next was in sections (each park, the resort, then Mouse-cellaneous), and this last one is literally just as I felt like doing the layout and it has no reason about it. I like the last one the least and the one that is in sections the best by far. We're going back this summer for just over 2 weeks and I am sure I'm going to do it in sections. We go to each park several times and never the same park on the same day after our break. I found that it just flowed better when it was grouped for me. I also did a top 10 list in the last section. I had several pictures that were kinda just odds and ends, but were some of our favorite things. I did a simple layout where I circle cut each picture, matted it, and then made a top 10 list to go along with it. Everyone comments on how cool it looks and it was really just a last minute thought. This time I'll be planning ahead for something like that. Happy scrappin'!

I'm happy to hear everyone liked my idea. After MANY trips to WDW and just doing my mom's trips for her Christmas present, I thought I would be sick of scrapping WDW pics. I thought the favorites pages would make it different. I will also have pics themed from the parks. Now that I am digital, I can print out the same pic and use it twice.

The hard part about doing the favorites was that I thought about it half way through our vacation and the second was trying not to lose the darn list once it was made. Some things I never got back to, so I am going to have to hunt the web for them. I am also going to incorporate the least 5 things we like. When I starting asking the kids what their favorites were the boys gave great ones, then DD gave me her top five...

Long lines
Hot days
cranky people
And I don't remember the other two, but they were negative things. She is such a stinkerbelle. I did write them down and I plan on using them for a page.

That's hilarious! :rotfl: What an idea for a different "take" on a WDW trip! I've gotta add that one to my list too---too funny---and those pages will really be something to look back on later for a chuckle. I hadn't thought about doing any pages or pics from that angle, but you've given us all a new "twist" on the Disney experience. :flower:

LOVE the favorites idea!! Also LOVE the UN-favorites!!! I will have to get a list together before our trip, the girls will LOVE this!

I am going to do a hidden Mickey ::MickeyMo book this time. We all LOVE looking for Hidden Mickeys, so this will be fun! DH got me the 6x6 CM book off Ebay, so I will use that!!

The first trip I scrapbooked (not digital :scared: ) I got doubles of all the pics, scrapped one set in "day by day" order. The doubles were split between my four DDs and I scrapped pages for their books I am making for them!! Although I enjoyed doing it, I will limit it this time!! They have their own books now and cannot wait to scrap their own pics!

When my DH and I went alone last May (900 + pics!! :faint: ), I made five separate books, MK, EPCOT, MGM, AK and WL including all the other resorts we visited. I am JUST now working on MK. I must get this done before May 1, I MUST, I MUST, I MUST!!

I just finished my "character swap" stuff, so back to MK LO's!! :flower3:

I do chronological - that just works best for me. But I am going to remember the favorites thing - my DD was 13 months old her first trip and although she couldn't tell me her favorites it was definitely Cinderella's Carousel. So I will have to scrap favorites for her that year (12/04) - we're going in September '05 and December '05 and she will turn 23 during the end of September trip - and she will turn 25 months on the beginning of December trip and I will have to continue that and see how what she likes changes. And then when she gets old enough to tell me what she liked best it should get real fun!! Also - I took a picture of her in the big rocking chairs in the lobby of WL and can't wait to repeat that picture through the years. That will be a pic that gets printed twice each time - once for chronological purposes as I'm doing my albums and once for one big spread when she is all grown up. Great ideas - it's nice to see how other people do their albums.

Amanda

We do parks... then themes.

Like the four worlds.
Then the characters
then THE FOOD (yes, we take pictures of the resturants and meals we ate)
the resort (tons of room, grounds, and lobby pics)
