How do your dogs eat?

My shih tzu is a gobbler, so much so that we had to get him a brake-fast bowl to make him slow down his eating. Our terrier eats fast too but not nearly as fast as the shih tzu. We feed them twice a day, breakfast (1/4 cup) and late afternoon dinner (1/2 cup). I could never free feed them, for one thing the bowl would constantly need re-filling and I think they would eat until they exploded. The cat does free feed though.
