How do you

All my pictures are sorted in my CM mini sort or CM Power Layout that need to be scrapped.

If I don't use the picture, when I am done with that group of pictures, I put the extras in my CM Power Sort box, chronologically. I sometimes use those pictures in later projects.

shhhhh, don't tell Lisa but I have been tossing crappy and unused pics. :tiptoe:

Do you do title pages for your albums? How do you delineate which layouts belong to which year?

Um, techically no. I leave a blank space to go back to "later," hence the majority of my albums starting with a blank page. Tack that on to my "To Do List."

If 2 years are together, it's chronological, so Christmas is always the delineating line. Plus my oldest DsD's birthday is January 1, so that makes it extra easy for me!

I haven't really begun work on all those trips for that travel album, but I plan to lay that one out chronologically too, and somewhere on the trip pages will mention the date.

OK. I think I can do that. I can do title pages for each year as needed. One friend recommended that I do a 2-page layout per month but I just don't take pictures some months. At least it is fairly easy to keep up with current LIFE albums that way.

I'll try it and hope my mildly OCD self will be able to handle it. Thanks!

I have a spreadsheet with major events or page ideas I want to do. It has a column for the date, event or page title, then column with X's for when each of the following is complete: layout sketch, pictures printed, journaling & printed, embellishments picked, and page complete.

When I download pictures from my camera to my computer & backup HD, I print out a contact sheet of the pictures (usually in B&W unless it is a Disney trip or other very special event). These are all in a binder in my sidetable by the couch. When I am watching TV, I pull this and my sketch book out. I note the pictures with sizes so I can easily upload and order a batch all at once. When I am done with the pages, I shred the contact sheet to make room for future ones.

These two techniques used to make a big difference to me when going to scrap nights at my old LSS. I knew exactly which pages were ready to be compiled and already had the sketches complete. Big time savers!

KerTggr, all I can say is :worship:. There will be snowballs in a hot, hot place before I am ever that organized. I am more of a put everything on the table, shuffle, stare, shuffle, stare and stick kind of scrapper. Your method sounds infinitely better. Good job!

THUD:headache:

I perfectly understand tossing crappy pictures, I toss those too, but good unused pictures? :scared1: Never. I am always using those for one little project or another. This years calendar is a picture one. I went back and put in pictures that would tie into that month, ie a snowy picture for December, swim picture for July.

Good thing I like you so much.

Radical and unorganized - that's me. I scrap whatever photos I have energy around until I get a pile of pages. Then, I sort them into some kind of order and slap 'em in an album or two or three or ten. I am so NOT a chronological scrapper.

I've got one book that's just "inlaw" photos - because I can take that when we go to visit them, and they're totally NOT into the part of our lives outside them. Ditto for my surrogate daughter and granddaughter. All their photos are in a stand alone album. The marathon team I "mom" with has their own album - because I take it to meets and they're not interested in family photos.

I toss crappy photos too - and the 'less good' ones of the bunch where i have a number of the same general topic. How many photos of Aunt Jill on the beach do I really need?

I am JUST caught up my boys from birth (when I tell you they are 14 and 8 you can see why it took 2 years), and what I did was pull all the photos out of BAD albums and put them in my CM powersort box with dividers by year, season, vaction as necessary (so i didn't forget). Then any blurry photos were binned, any duplicates went in "less bad" albums and a few are waiting to go in the less bad albums.

To break it down I started with vacations and days out (and a separate album for Christmas, because I got it free;) ) then caught up the rest.

it worked for me:thumbsup2

Okay, I made a spreadsheet yesterday. Album, event, photos printed, notes and done. I'll see how this works for me.

I need to get better about sketching and pre-planning

Thanks for the SNL Throwback bows :goodvibes . But honestly, I wish I could be a bit more spontaneous with just printing pictures and scrapping them. I think it's the Project Manager in me though - need to have a plan before attacking a project.

I think KerTggr should get the most organized scrapper award. I am in awe of how organized she is.:worship: :worship:

Organized is such a nice way to put it! :) My hubby calls it OCD. (Obsessive Compulsive Disney is how I think about it!)
