How do you use the pin bag?

Okay, don't mean to sound like a greenie, but I just got my first pin bag and I am not sure how to put my pins in it.

Do I pin them to the zipper pockets? Do I just put them in the pockets (although that seems wrong to me)?

Help!

The pin bags that I have (from the DS and the DC) ahve the "pouches" that i put the pins on both sides. The pin backs go inside the pouch. The bags I have have fabric panels between the pouches. I hope this helps you out!
