I ordered 2 of the "1st generation" Pal Mickeys from one of the outlets thanks to a tip on this board. We're going to the World next week :woohoo: and I'm not sure what I need to do to update our Pal Mickey. Can anyone help? Thanks!

I didn't think you could update them, that was why they were at the outlet, the new ones came out .. I could be wrong though.

I don't know about updates, but when you go to the parks, they do pick up lots of new jokes and banter from all the sensors there, enough from the"old" version that we don't miss anything else! We got the $10 guys too,and they're a lot of fun, just bring extra batteries!

Make sure your Mickey is turned on when you go through the gates and the "updates" should be transmitted as you go.

At least that's what my Mickey instructions state!!

And I think I might have read something one time that said you could take him to "guest services (?)" in the parks to be updated.

We took our Outlet Mickey to WDW last December - he was delivered to us about two weeks prior to going. He was turned on when we went through the gates and he updated just fine. I had forgotten that he would update when we got there but when we got near to Stitch he started shaking like a son of a gun!

Have fun with him!

Man, I am JEALOUS! I want one of these so bad for my 7yo ds...I just can't see paying full price for a new one though--we are on a tight budget for our April trip! Anyone know where I might be able to find an old one?

Thanks for the advice on the batteries, although I wish I would have gotten mine for $10, LOL. The ones I got were 50% off, which was just under $30, I think. Still a good deal!

I got one on E-Bay for $20. ... and thanks for the heads up re batteries.

There is one place in each park that will update the Pal Mickeys if you have the old ones--they hook it up to a computer and download the updates. We had it done in the MK--I can't remember the name of the store but it is on the right hand side of Main street when you are facing the castle--it took about five minutes.

We returned from the world 6 days ago. We took our Pal Mickey(also purchased for $13.99 from the Sawgrass Outlets) to the Cinema Store on Main Street in Magic Kingdom. They have a computer link they can hook him up to at the cashier's counter. I asked very nicely, and they were happy to update him. They also have the new Pal Mickey outfits there for $10.00 per set. We had to get one of those since we "saved" so much. There is an older woman who works (can't remember her name) who is especially sweet and helpful. Have fun with your Pal - he was lots of fun.

Wow!!!! I really didn't think they would update them. I thought for sure since they came out with "new" ones, that the old ones would not have the info on the new rides & attractions. Had I known that, I would have bought one of them at the outlets!!! Now I am mad (at myself  )
So they will be updated to have all of the new attractions?????

I got the 1st Pal Mickey on the 1st outlet go -around but my poor DD lost it at DTD. She was devastated and if we had not been leaving 2 days later I would have bought her another one.
Where can you buy them now?

Wow! I didn't know the old ones update. Now I'm really kicking myself for paying full price for a new one. Oh well....guess I could have spent it on something worse...what I'm not sure! LOL

After we had Pal Mickey updated at the Cinema store on Main Street, he did have information on the newest attractions. He had info about Expedition Everest (which we were fortunate enough to ride) in AK. Also, be sure you have him on and facing the front of the parks when you enter at the ticket machines. He will update with that information, too. Yes, bring extra batteries, as other posters suggested. We went through 2 sets in a 7 day trip to WDW.

Have fun! Wish we were going back soon, but our next big trip is a move to Delaware. On a good note, we'll be closer to WDW than where we are in Texas.

I would encourage everyone to contact disney directly about what can and cant be done with the original pal before buying into the blatent lies that seem to be posted here frequently. I would also encourage people to visit the website for pal mickeys grown up pals club. Very knowledgeable people when it comes to pal mick. One poster is a disney cm.
