We usually take Sudafed capsules, tea, orange juice, and recently we bought Vitamin C tablets.

Today though DH said get Alka Seltzer cold tablets. That seemed to help a little With congestion.

For a sore throat I can only think of hot tea with honey.

For congestion, netti pot. Sore throat, hard candy.

Water. Lots of water and positive thinking. But especially the water. As for the sore throat I usually use Vicks spray to numb it til it's healed.

Hot tea.

Elderberry Syrup 3-4 times a day.

Vicks.

Vicks cough drops.

Odballa sticks. Not exact on the spelling of that. On Amazon or health food store. Looks like a Chapstick but you sniff it, menthol. Clears your nose without drugs or sprays.

Sudafed (the good stuff that NYers have to buy behind the counter), and ibuprofen. The saline nasal rinse supposedly helps, but I haven't figured out how to use it without clogging my ears.

Tylenol for the throat pain. O trivia for stuffed nose and tons of water. Rest as well. I start on my asthma mess too. Inhaler, singulair and Ventolin.

I'll just point out that tea (regular type) has caffeine. Caffeine is drying to sore throats. I'd look into teas that don't have caffeine in them.

My favorite for sort throat (from my theater days) - juice of one lemon, tablespoon of honey, heated, add one shot of brandy.

I wish I could get the Alka Seltzer cold tablets here in Canada but when I ask the pharmacist he said only in the USA - boo hoo!!!
I forgot to buy them in Florida when we were there in June and August - I wonder why??:rotfl2:

Lots of clear fluids and rest. Nasal rinse and gargle with salt water. At night time I take nyquil. Sudafed makes me jittery so I steer clear of it. Throat and cough drops are also very helpful.

I'm glad to hear you say this because no one else I have ever met said Sudafed made them jittery. It does me too. I can take it first thing in the morning and be okay for the day because it does do a heck of a job drying stuff up, but if I take it anytime after about 2, I am up all night with my mind bouncing around like a ping pong ball.

It's awful, I don't take it at all because it makes me so shaky. I try not to take medicine unless I absolutely have to.

ETA, I do take a zyrtec daily though.

I can't take Sudafed. It makes my heart race.

I treat sore throats with ibuprofen and/or Tylenol.

That's about it unless I have chest congestion and I use Mucinex D.

I use a neti pot more as a preventive measure for my allergies. If I use that when I'm already congested it really makes things worse since it won't drain all the way through.

I also use ibuprofen. I use the bottle thing that you squeeze made by sinus med (I think), it works like a charm. Maybe because of the way the water shoots up your nose lol. If I'm congested in use it twice a day and it really helps.
