DH and I are going to WDW Oct 3-7 for our 15th Ann. without the kids. We were suppose to go for our 10th, had it booked and everything, then he got layed off. We had to cancel. We are going to try again. We leave in 60 days but have not told the kids(10 & 13). They love Disney and we have taken them many times. I would like some suggestions on how to tell them. How did you tell your kids when you went alone?

Thanks for any help. We can not wait. We have never been in the fall we always go in the summer.

Did you tell the kids yet? We are going Sept. 29 thru Oct. 6 for our 12th, with out the kids DS9, DS4.. The best I can say is try not to smile to much and they really get mad when you break out in laughter so try not to do that.
We just told them we want to go back by ourselves like we did when we got married, so we can do some of the adult stuff we can't do when they are there. Trying to make it sound like they would be bored, it kind of works, they still seem a little bummed out. But it's a week for them at Grammy's house. So they'll manage to survive. And who knows, we may take them sooner then they think.

We take a trip to Disney about every other year with out the kids. We don't make excuses as to why, they go on other trips. They are treated well. Just tell them as matter of fact as you can and do not apologize. You are going to spend time together. If you act apologetic they will seize on that and make you feel guilty. Then bring back some nice souvenirs and all will be good.

I am going to DW next Thursday. It was supposed to just be me, my mom and my aunt but my aunt backed out so we are bringing my oldest dd who is 8 years old. When it was just us adults I told the kids and they didn't even care, they were like..whatever, you're blocking the tv!

Then I decided to take dd and my 6yo had a brief " aww maaan" moment but then she got over it. My 4yo has no clue. She thinks Chuck E Cheese is cooler than DW right now anyway. lol Dh plans on taking them some cool places while we are gone. I don't make a big deal out of it. I talk about the trip around them because I don't wan't to make it something that I shouldn't talk about but I make sure my dd does not brag or anything like that, and I don't brag even to dh because he is sad he can't go. This was my "girls only" trip and even tho it is no longer adults only, it is still just the girls!
