As title, how you you spend those first holiday days?

1. Arriving. The plans lands and you.....?

2. The first whole day in US! body clock says WAKE UP at 5.30am! Then you...?

Just wondering if people need recovery times or hit the ground running

First day we'll check in and then wander around the ASMo to get our bearings and I'm planning (in my head) to have an early dinner then pop over to the poly for either wishes viewing and or electrical water pageant
day 2 early wake up then breakfast and MK for the character arrival, I know a lot of people won't do a park first day but to me MK IS Disney and it'll get us all even more excited (if thats possible), we'll mooch slowly around Mk until fatigue hits and then retire to our pool for a swim or if we can keep going we'll stay til closing, no real plans, just take it as it goes, thats the beauty I feel of a 14 day pass, we can chill and know we can ALWAYS come back tomorrow

The first few days we have at Universal RPR so will spend that are US and IoA taking advantage of the FOTL priviledges :)

On our last trip we were stopping at the HRH, and after checking in and being amazed at absolutely everything, we headed off to US so I could get my Jimmy Neutron fix!!

On the first night I usually wake up very early and very excited (notably, I woke my DH up this last time to say "Oh my God, we're in the Hard Rock Hotel!!!!!) but end up going back to sleep for a while.

I must be lucky because my body clock seems to settle down after that. It is only ever the first morning that I wake up early, so we're not very good at getting early starts to the parks! :rolleyes1

On day of arrival we usually head to the villa, unpack, get a few essential supplies then just relax. Have a swim then usually early to bed.

The next day we very rarely head to a park. Usually shopping, swimming at the villa etc. This year we did Fantasia minigolf and had dinner at Boma's, so we were still enjoying some of the magic!! One previous trip (2003) we had dinner at Chef Mickeys, then headed into MK for a bit in the evening and just soaked up the atmosphere (and the rain...!!)
I like to take things easy the first few days - adjust to the heat and humidity and time difference.

We're always too tired to do anything on the first evening, so it's just a case of unpacking & grabbing a bite to eat if we're hungry.

The first day is spent by the villa pool & grocery shopping.

The next day is spent at Sea World.

We like to ease ourselves in gradually!!!

The past two trips we have arrived, done a grocery stop with the Towncar transfer and then checked into our room onsite. Then after a quick wash and brush up we have headed straight to MK to meat with friends - staying until closing time.

Next morning we have found we wake at our normal time and we just carry on with a day in what ever park is on our plan :)

It depends where we are. If we are in a villa we unpack and then go to Walmart or similar and shop for grocereis and then bring a McDonals back to the house and unwind. If in a disney hotel as we were in POR 2001. We got there, unpacked and then hit MK on an EMH evening.

Wherever we stay though its a family tradition that we always, always do seaworld on our first day.

9 weeks today. Yipeeeeeeee. :rotfl:

Last time we unpacked and walked to Universal but as we don't arrive until late then I would imagine we will unpack have something to eat and flop into bed. Our first day will probably Sea World, at least that is the plan. :flower:

Depends what time we get to the hotel. If we get to ASMo and there's time, we'll probably go to DTD or EPCOT for a little while. If not, we'll hang out at ASMo (and possibly unpack).

The first full day will definitely be one of the parks (Disney - Universal can wait 'til later!), but I won't be deciding what one until the park hours are out and I've sorted out the schedule!

When we arrive we unpack and I take a massive shopping list with me and head off for the Publix.
Later on my wife will do some ironing and then we just concentrate on getting our little lad off to sleep.

First full day we head off to Universal , our son's favourite, we have Annual Passes so this is our first park. We will probably leave lunch time, stop at MapleLeafTickets for our MYW disney tickets, have a rest maybe sit by the pool for the afternoon and then have a walk round a mall for an hour or so before having tea, possibly Outback on the first night - despite spending a fortune on groceries.
Love the Outback as I go on my own have a nice cold beer whilst waiting for our food to take out...

Next morning probably Magic Kingdom in the morning and MGM in the evening, not 100% sure yet.

Our little lad has always been an early riser, but the first night will be hard as he is normally up during the night, can picture myself watching Blues Clues videos now at 2 in the morning, after a couple of days he settles down :)

1) Drive to villa;
2) Shout at anyone who tries to bring in any item of luggage before I've had an opportunity to take photos (they know better these days :teeth: );
3) Drive to supermarket to get provisions;
4) Return to villa with provisions;
5) Lay out sub-roll assembly station for everyone to fix their own;
6) Change into skimpy bikini. OK, OK, I'm fantasising here. Ahem...change into one piece costume, extra lycra;
7) Pour wine;
8) Enter jacuzzi.
9) Wake up at 4am with no idea how I got to bed!

First day traditions:

- Breakfast at Boma
- Epcot

Last year:

First day - Landed, got to hotel, went out for some dinner (I don't do airplane food so was starving) and then back to hotel for a couple of drinks before bed.

Second day - Last year, we had to change hotels so there wasn't time to go to WDW or US/IOA but we did manage to spend a few hours at SeaWorld. Then dinner and early night (as the long day the day before caught up with us by then).

This year's plan:

First day - Land, get to hotel, unpack, out for dinner and then Skull Kingdom

Second day - Straight to IOA, stopping just long enough to grab some Cinnabon Stix on the way.

When there was just the 2 of us we explored the resort the first night before heading to Downtown Disney. We then hit Magic Kingdom the next day. We were only there for a week though and needed to get going straight away!

With DD in tow (age 2) We went to bed straight after grabing a bite to eat - she only slept 15mins on the flight and wasn't the only one exhausted. I didn't plan anything for the next day (not knowing what her mood would be!) and we ended up exploring the resort and then heading to Downtown Disney which took up the rest of the day!

I guess we'd prefer to get totally into the 'Magic' as soon as possible but a bit of retail therapy helped ease the pain of a day's delay

On the afternoon/evening we arrive we usually just head out for a little wander round, buy groceries and then head back to the hotel and relax, maybe have a swim in the pool.

The next day we break ourselves in gently, buy our Lynx passes etc and just enjoy being in Orlando again :sunny:

We then usually go to SeaWorld on the 2nd day as we find this is a nice gentle park to start off with :)

Ooooh am getting excited thinking about my holiday now :Pinkbounc

when we first get to the villa, we unpack and then we go to winn dixies or somewhere like that and buy milk, those huge gallon pure orange juice :cool1: , bread and a few other little bits,
on the 1st full day, to get over the journey we usually go to typhoon lagoon, and i just go around the lazy river winding down after the flight!! or sometimes we go to seaworld as thats done at a much slower pace!
:cheer2: :Pinkbounc :cheer2:

We always do the same: Arrive at hotel ,dump our suitcases,then out for a "start of holiday" meal.Bed fairly early.up & at them ...ferryboat...MK!
SD :paw:

We expect to touch down in Orlando around 16:40 local time and arrive at Disney about two hours later.

We are staying at Animal Kingdom Lodge Concierge and will be going on the 'Sunrise Safari' at Animal Kingdom the following morning while we are still running on UK time.

Last time I went we went got to ASMO about 6pm, had a pizza for dinner and then went straight to Epcot so we could see Illuminations, we were so tired tho we didnt really take it in. This year I think we will probably just relax in the hotel, however I will probably be so over excited I'll be dragging my husband off to one of the parks!!

Last year, we arrived at hotel late, 11.30pm, due to TCD delay (!), half unpacked and crashed out! As I'm not known for my early mornings (Family standing joke - I'm such a morning grouch!!) it surprised us all that I was the first up just after 5am! I thought it was disney excitement, but after reading these boards I know its the time zone thing! I still believe it's more to do with disney magic than technical stuff!

Finished unpacking, decided on a leisurely day, but during our first sizzlers breakfast, decided what the hell and headed for MGM - our first taste of disney magic and it blew us away! Didn't think the other parks could top this one. How naive could we be!!

Plan this year, is hopefully arrive with First Choice just after 2pm, so after checking in, etc., would like to head to DTD, as we didn't visit last time. First full day, well we're heading back to MGM, maybe this is our first day tradition now!
