I have well meaning friends and I am very thankfull for them, but I dont think they get the hint sometimes. They are wanting to throw a bridal shower and a bachelorette party....the problem is this is a VOW RENEWAL. I dont need (or want) either. I've said I dont need them, and yet they are insisting. I don't know how else to put that its not appropriate. If they had said "A girls night out" I would be fine, but it went from "A Girls night out" to A "GNO with her wearing a bride to be sash and a bride t be tiara." It sounds more like a bachelorette party than a GNO celebrating our vow renewal. IDK what to do anymore. I dont think anyone listens.

Could it be that your friends just want to make a fuss over you because they think you deserve it?

There are two ways I guess, one is to just sit back and let them spoil you, or you can put your foot down and insist it's just a GNO with no bridal accessories, it's completely up to you

Best of luck with your decision making x

if they want to throw you a party why stop them, go have fun.

My sister wanted to throw me a shower and do the girls night out thing too but I told her I thought it was tacky since we're already married. I told her I'd be embarassed if she did it and she understood. Just nicely ask them to please no plan either. A simple girls night out is fine but the whole "last night out" bit just doesn't apply.

Just a suggestion, but instead of a Girls Night Out, why don't you suggest having a girls get together that at the Spa? Some pampering may be better than some pimping.

+1. I'd try to explain that it's rather tacky. Tell them you'd love to celebrate with them but not in that way!

I agree I think it's tacky I'd just tell them that and tell them you really don't want to and that you would prefer a spa thing or something. I'm
Not doing a bachelorette party and Greg is not doing a bachelor's party because we think they are tacky and we don't want to. We'd rather all just hang out together

I also agree that it's not really appropriate for a VR (we're planning our VR for May 1 and I would decline the parties, too), but I do think it's really sweet that they love you so much and want to do it! ;)

TY everyone (sorry it took so long...been trying to keep up when DH is going to arrive here and getting everything ready...not much longer at all.)

I'll try again to talk them down.

I think a spa day would be a wonderful idea! Have you talked to them yet? I hope it went okay!! :-)
